Season 2 focused why too much on the bald bitch. I thought the bits about the Viking and his son hunting Spear and Fang was the most interesting part of season 2, and the whole part with the Egyptian bitch was the low point.

Primal was always overrated slop that was briefly one of the /co/ approved shows

I did too actually. I think they fucked the viking guy over but having him make a pact with a literal demon/devil. I know there was magic in one of the episodes in season 1, but the whole "there is actually a hell and this dude got sent to it" was kinda retarded to me. I would have much rather see the viking chieftain and his son survive.

Genndy can't do long-form storytelling. One-off, action-oriented cartooning is his specialty, but he insists on getting outside his comfort zone. It's admirable if occasionally irritating. I feel like Primal had at least another 2 or 3 seasons of man/dino adventures in it before bringing in more advanced civilizations

My biggest problem with this was the fact Primal depicted Vidarr as some weird demonic Satan dude. He would be up there with the other Norse gods chilling in Asgard. He's not some dark firey devil. Like why would a Viking guy be sent to Hell for being vengeful? They were expected to avenge the death of their loved ones.
It's so dumb. It's like Genndy just saw that Vidarr was the god of revenge and just wanted a primal Satan monster who sends a fire demon at the protagonists so he could justify a scene where a burnt jerky man has sex with the bald chick.

Genndy's other weakness is that, at least these days, he LOVES giving his characters waifus even when it hurts the story. First Ashi, then Mira. I don't know what compels him to shove a bitch into the story that hurts the flow of the action.

Maybe its not him, maybe its marketing or other people directing him, producers maybe. I'm just spitballing but who knows right? But its defiantly a weakness of his recent works. Samurai jack could have had ashi without a romance thing and it would have worked just fine. In fact, I consider the first 3-4 episodes of samurai jack season 4 to be some of the best in the show. What do you think?

I can excuse Primal since it works as an ending to Spear's story. He built a new family with Fang and Mira after experiencing the greatest loss one could experience in that time, and his legacy now lives on. The way Genndy chose to tackle Spear's procreation was... questionable, but it's narratively sound when you look at the whole picture of those first two seasons.

I couldn't tell you WHAT he was thinking when making "Jack gets a girlfriend" a priority after getting the miraculous chance to end Samurai Jack.
