Why hasn't AI led to a tsunami of indie cartoons? People have been warning everyone for over 3 years now and there's still nothing, all we got is networks cutting shows because of low funding and the strike.

Because no one knows if commercializing the open source AIs is even legal. The studios need to train all their AI in-house to ensure they can't be sued. Try using open source checkpoints, LoRAs, nodes, and even tools and see how that legally blows up in your face.

Because AIfags are lazy and would never consistently stick with something and work out the kinks of a full fledge cartoon which is why 99% of AI cartoons are short and look like first pass trash.
Cartoonfags meanwhile don't want to work in buggy AI because it'll mess up their workflow ontop of being philosophically against it.

Companies and enthusiasts either don't know how to or don't have the will to make AI animation software actually worth using. Even open their eyes project Sora or Google's Veo have painfully obvious temporal coherence issues with their videos. AI videos in general have always had this issue. It's getting better but they're going to have to start actually giving a shit about quality by using data that isn't shit.

If there's one thing AI sucks at, it's consistency. Which is kinda important for an animated series.
