The lesser universe being the one with the female version of the MC is inherently sexist though, it doesn't really matter how you spin it.

Either way, this is true. When a female character is introduced, she's there to boss the man, being patronising towards him, replace him, or abuse him. This ain't seen as negative because modern writers and fans think they deserve it.

It's an alt. universe where and men are pretty much second-class citizens. Characters constantly say shit like "you're pretty smart for a man" or "a mere man can't stop me"
And just so we're clear here, Ultimate Spider-Man is awful slop for low IQ kids and this was an attempt at your standard hackneyed "sexism is... le bad" episode with roles reversed which I suspect is a "how would you like if you were on the receiving end of that" kind of thing, except the message is muddied because the (Spider-)Man saves the day so in the end it ends up looking like women are just incompetent retards who talk a lot of shit.
So this is the only Ultimate Spider-Man episode that's funny, except not for the reasons the writers intended.

I want to agree with you that the series is maybe overhated but I have a Pavlovian reflex to never, ever take any post mentioning "death threats" seriously. It was directed at Jeph Loeb and they brought up his dead son in insult. Empathy is what I felt for Loeb more than personal frustration at the losers taking it out on him. Didn't affect my life, but I saw what I saw 12-13 years ago. Something I never forgot.
