In general Men Crave intimacy as it is natural to want to feel loved in both emotional and physical ways but have no authority over getting to chose and instead must be chosen by a women. Men fear the authority a women can hold over them because of this and the long term emotional and social damage a women can do to them because of their social authority.
To deny men this is to deny a legitimate need for intimacy.
In general Women crave security through Control, they are naturally physically weaker than men and so have an inbuilt hair-trigger fight or flight over the ambient potential harm they can receive from the opposite sex. It is natural to guard oneself against dangers and so women utilize societal manipulation and their control over sex to level the playing field and bend it in their favor when they can.
To deny women this is to deny a legitimate need for security.
In the past this was alleviated by placing men in a dominant position wherein they were expected to both control and protect the women close to them but ran into a natural problem need need for self-determination.
In general all people want intimacy, Safety, Control, Self-Determination, and more but this is not an equal process, its one where things like Self-Determination came after Safety is assured which is why it took so long to reach the point of independent women as a common part of living.
