Disney decanonized the Hercules The Animated Series.
Disney Villains Hades has Hades meeting Icarus, Medusa and other mythologically characters that are both different in designs and personality to the ones appeared in HTAS. Greatest example is this official canon comic Icarus being nothing like the other official series Icarus.

Disney generally never canonized the TV shows to begin with.

Megara appeared as well, they used the amnesia water plot (literally in the episode where Meg appears) to make everyone forget each others

You could headcanon that, but this Icarus met Hades for the first time and is said to be in bad relationship with his father and speaks in rap , something the cartoon series Icarus wasn't.
And this Medusa is different from the shy scaredy girl from the series, the Minotaur is a mindless brute which is different than the nihilist from the HTAS as well.
So Jason who is a young rich jerk here despite being old as dirt and happy poor man in the TAS, and the TAS happened before since they reference the Hercules movie events.

They snuck in some cameos of recurring characters from the TV series near the end during the wedding scene, and the original plot was supposed to be Aladdin and Mozenrath being revealed as brothers. King of Thieves was always meant to be the show's "series finale" of sorts, like how Return of Jafar was the pilot.
