I liked The Owl House, even though a lot of this board didn't, I liked Molly McGee, I liked Smiling Friends, I liked Fionna and Cake if you count it as new, and I liked Kiff. But Stugo is tied with Smiling Friends for being the best of the decade, so I can see someone with higher standards believing this.

This decade had so few good shows, and this certainly isn't one of them, it's just cheaply animated beanmouth shit where the characters are stiff as fuck, we got Smiling Friends this decade and this is what you consider peak? This show is unfunny and tryhard, Francis is literally a pathetic manufactured attempt at making a fan favorite character, and it worked cause autists like the people on this board are willing to consume this slop cause, surprise, the animation board doesn't give a shit about animation, only writerslop.

The beanmouth style represents how much executives fuck over projects and how little creative freedom they give to creators these days, tons of beanmouth characters had more unique designs in concept art, Elio, Wylde Pak, but they were beanmouthed in the final product cause executives see that shitty style as "appealing". It's just one big part of a bigger issue about how executive controlled animation is these days, slop like Stugo and Haileys On It are only made to cash in on the success of prior shows (beanmouth loreshit from the 2010's) by having premises similar to them. Funnily enough, it isn't working anymore, Elio has caused people to hate on beanmouth and no adults wanna willingly watch shit like Stugo or BCG cause of how oversanitized and babyish kids tv is these days.

Here's a character designers perspective on beanmouth that sheds a light on the issues with the style.

Beanmouths are actually really fucking hard to draw, at least with a D mouth it's a straight line and a curve, but with beans, you gotta make it look like it's smiling without it looking dead.

I agree with everything you said, even if I find the beanmouth style to be appealing when done with some sort of creative flair. Funny enough, Wylde Pak is one of the better looking modern toons to me, and I have warmed up on Stugo, and Elio doesn't look to bad either. I just get insecure with how much everyone hates beanmouth, making me avoid drawing any reference to it, which sucks because I enjoy beanmouth shit.

So what do I do as an artist? What artstyles should I take inspiration from instead that isn't beanmouth so that people can like me?
