>Everything else is canon if they bring it up
Honestly, I don't think that's true.
Like, sort of yes, but also no.
It's in this weird limbo of pseudo canon, where you can assume that an almost identical series of events happened, but it isn't really canon.
Like Peacemaker Season 1 is technically not canon anymore, as you could see when Season 1 Episode 2 showed clips from it but altered/reshot to change references from the previous attempt at a cinematic universe to the new one.
It's kind of the same bullshit as what's going on in comics, when they do a reboot where "oh yeah, totally the old stuff is canon... Except it's like an amalgamation, and also it happened at a different time, and yeah that bit about those characters being married never happened, and their kids are different people who just happen to look similar and have the same names, but other than that it's basically canon".
People are annoyed because this shit has always felt like overly convoluted and confusing garbage that only exists because corporate doesn't have the balls to pull the plug and make something actually new, and for a lot of people being reminded of it just instantly takes you out of the story.
For me it's a weird kind of charm, like the entire narrative chewing the scenery, but you cant really be mad at people for losing investment when being presented with a story that has only slightly more consistency than the average Elon Musk product scope and timeline.
