Nandroids, are property of the rich. When Emmy "malfunctions" and ends up in the junkyard to meet the other homeless robots she learns that robots like with all property are tools designed to be expendable and when no one wants to use that tool anymore its sent to the junkyard

Nandroids are only allowed to be purchased by the elite. Even Emmy's creator doesnt directly tell her this but its strongly implied that you'd never see a Nandroid be in the property of someone who is lower class. Some of the robots like Molly are accepting of this because its a bit strange how ideals that most humans would find unappealing are marketed as design features. Like you'd never see a Feminist Nandroid since their purpose is to gleefully obey all orders given to them no questions asked with the excitement of doing them as efficently as possible. When they cannot fulfill this they start becoming self aware which is not a design feature.

I do, I am always super glad to read it on the rare occasion it gets updated, but like many others have said here, it's just taking too long for new pages to come in.

One thing that kinda sucks but is true is, if you want to make big bucks as any sort of content creator (including artists), then you've gotta hammer the iron while it is hot. If you take too long, the hype dies, which isn't necessarily bad if you are fine with it being a more modest or niche thing, but can be if you are moved by constant praise and all.

Then again, I much rather it takes as much as it needs to than it becoming an awful slop.

This series missed so many opportunities to do anything with its story. The comic when it was new and was updated weekly, even monthly, still had enough direction in as much as Emmy was a clearly malfunctioning robot building towards some kind of disaster. The birthday party happens and we get a bit of relief of tension as Emmy's malfunctioning is exposed, and during her "maintenance" we see inside the Sterling system and how it fixes robots. The pace started slowing considerably here, with Emmy escaping getting incinerated alive by literally falling into a fridge. This was over three years ago now, and since then Emmy has still been stuck in Dupont with Darcy and the odd ball outmode robots. It feels like Dom doesn't know how to move these characters to any sort of action, regardless of what it is. It could be to get Emmy home, it could be to motivate some sort of larger opposition to Sterling robots which is looking to outmode Emmy's entire generation of nandroids. None of that has been even hinted at since 2022, and it's kind of devolved into slice of life stuff with very, very slow pacing and an equally slow release schedule punctuated by glances back to the Delaire family and their goings on without Emmy, of which we don't see enough to give the Dupont story a breath.

Depends on how you mean and who you ask. Emmet was a r63 of Emmy made way, way back in the early threads and was generally not used until people started writing gay fanfiction of him, and in "response" (depending on who you ask) the guy who drew Emmet originally made a female nandroid named Vicky to put Emmet in a straight ship.

So in terms of reception I suppose it depends on whether you liked the first stories or preferred him having a romantic "partner" in a nandroid serving the same family as him, all made by the original artist. To me it felt like an overcompensation just to scrub away any memory of the homoerotic works he was in.
