It makes me sad that cable TV is dying out, since this means people won’t watch the same cartoons or share the same cultural references, making it harder for everyone to connect and make friends, especially children.

I’d say good riddance to cable, but streaming and corporatized YouTube are so much worse.

Any new cartoon can't be accidentally stumbled upon when channel-surfing. Now they HAVE to benefit from proper advertising because potential viewers need to actively go out of their way to pull up the specific program on the specific streaming service that houses it. Many shows that aren't overnight sensations get overshadowed much easier that way.

I understand the feeling too, of rushing back home from school in order to catch a show you really liked on TV, and discussing it with your friends on the other day...

In a way, this will remain in essence, since kids and teens can watch, for example, a trendy youtube cartoon series and discuss it with their friends, or maybe watch some ongoing series on a streaming service, and discuss it on the next day.

Sometimes things change, but sometimes not that much.

Execs have canceled good shows since the days of Police Squad! and showed zero remorse. The loss of television falls squarely at their feet. Kids would still want to watch good shows but all they get are SpongeBob and Teen Titans Go! Anything else gets 8 episodes every 3 years, how else are they going to be entertained?

It was largely like this in the past. You had the basic package, but to get extra channels you paid more. HBO, Starz, Cinemax (Skinemax hehe) all were separate subscriptions too
That being said, it wasn't ala carte, really more stacked costs like ordering at Chipotle

Not sure what you're talking about, my nephew and his friends share and talk about shit that they both experienced. Popular stuff tends to cause kids to gravitate to it.

I started watching less of the telmundvision over 10 years ago when they started shoving faggot shit down our throats. By 2020, I stopped watching entirely because it was nothing but black folks everywhere on every ad & every program. All the pro-faggot & pro-black shit made me want throw out my own TV. If I like something, I'll pirate it. If the creators behind that something, I'll obtain physical media of that something.

Not your personal charity.
