The issues with the show, like why isn't it popular? Why isn't it funny? Why isn't it exciting? Why isn't everyone's brain going a mile a minute watching it? Where are the heart pumping moments?
It's because it has no brain, or heart. It simply wishes to be part of the library of other shows worth watching. It's not, because it wants it too much. A show should not be this demanding of our interaction, and instead give us passive entertainment of space adventures. But it asks, it expects. Zeurel becomes disappointed with viewers, like they don't do enough. All for a show that falls short of what was done already in Futurama and Cowboy Bebop 25 years ago, with no memorable humor or action. Why is it a show? Why now? Shouldn't I just watch Space Dandy? What sets it apart from other things in the genre, and what does it brings to the table? And why the hell is it all worth it? Does it seriously deserve my attention?

Monkey Wrench failed when its two lead characters didn't make for a compelling or entertaining duo. Shrike and Beebs are the core of the show, yet I couldn't care less about 'em.

The thing is, the fact that he is some weird mutant alien creature who happens to speak a Human language, while Humans in the setting are a mysterious demonized species, is really fucking interesting. Why does he speak a Terran language, and how is he familiar with Terran cartoons? I want to find out more about that, because the Terran plotline is the thing I find most interesting about the show.
But for some fucking reason he gave Shrike the most insufferable voice and personality. I genuinely don't get it.

Just watch/read Earthworm Jim lol.

I enjoyed the pilot, but the humour sometimes falls flat. How are the rest of the episodes?

MW isn't even close to bad enough to receive all the vitriol it gets from certain people. And a lot of it seems to be from Joshua saying he wants his show to be more popular. Very strange.

I think it's simply because Zeurel doesn't have the marketing team behind Helluva Boss, Digital Circus, Skibidi Toilet. His voice actors aren't doing free advertisement for him and most of his fanbase isn't very loud and in other circles trying to convince others to watch it in a cascading effect.

You want me to fix your show for you? Remove the plot, the characters, and all the voice actors. Make it about the two cats. They do not speak. Their dialogue is communicated entirely through pantomime. Make it about how they're trying to get back to Cat Planet (Earth all along!) and they try to get some pussy along the way. Now they have a backstory that is interesting because it drives every moment of the plot and every joke, at every point they are thinking about home and the mission and the show never loses sight of that. It also makes for opportunities for humor at their expense that they are trapped in space or bad with women, and maybe even a mystery/conspiracy that the black cat is secretly keeping him there against his will.
There, I fixed everything about the show. I made the setting more interesting, the characters more likeable, anchored all of the plot and humor on a clear and focused central plot, added intrigue, and gave the promise of new hot alien cat girls in every episode. Happy?

I honestly think that the low viewership of Monkey Wrench is protecting this idiot from being dragged by the cancel brigade. Maybe that’s why he does dick all to help promote it. He knows if it gains too much popularity he’ll be in greater danger of being called out.

1. Two of the male leads come off as way too Human looking as if it needed to be made obvious to the audience that later on it's revealed that they are half-breed aliens. 2. The protags of this show should have been a four-band team instead of two because as others have stated Shrike & Beebs can't carry this show on their own. 3. Too many characters that are furry looking and less alien as well. 4. Secondary and Minor characters act too juvenile at times that they might as well be 10-14yr olds and the biggest example of this is Shrike, Tyneen, Ricket and Jaw Bone. 5. The show needs to balance having a comedic but also dark tone to it's setting as it often leans towards it's comedic side while whimsily inserting dark stuff into it every now and then.
