No, tom kings run is by far the worst run of all time. The engagement arc is the worst the book has ever had. The city of bane arc a close second.

That being said failsafe is top 5 worst, certainly.

Imagine baiting everyone, even the comic shops celebrating Batman and Catwoman getting married, only for it to not happen. And then King got taken off the book but allowed to finish his run in a non-canon series with an artist he threw under the bus before.

I don’t have it but it was something with Heroes in Crisis. It was some tweet King made putting the blame on Mann. It amounted to nothing and Mann still worked with King without saying anything.

Batman's been bad for 10 years, no point in discerning which arc is particularly worse than another.

Every single arc from Tom King is worse than Failsafe.

Batman is a boring character. There are few stories where I go, “Wow, Batman is what makes me like this story.” Outsider media gives the character a huge boost. I've always felt the opposite with Superman, where outsider media downplays any personality he may have. I think writing Batman outside of his stories works better than in his stories.

They should evolve. We cannot return back to the old days of Batman. We must move forward with Batman, Batgirl, Batwoman, Clayface, Spoiler, Robin, and Nightwing. This is a comfy dynamic and allows for more complex plotlines.

Failsafe arc is certainly the most character-damaging. It's like Chud Zardoz didn't think for a second about the implications of Batman being able to build a robot that's better than himself at being Batman. The whole idea is just fucked up, it turns the character from a noir detective with an animal motif to Mr. Fantastic in one go.
