Red hair guy did exist a decade ago, but he didn't realize that all of the kids left to watch PewDiePie and Minecraft YouTubers and he was the only person watching the show

>mainstream cartoons suck
>go to youtube.com to look for indie cartoons, hoping they are better
>the indie cartoon sphere is just mainstream but worse
>most of them don't have more than a pilot episode, if the creators even get off their asses to finish the fucking cartoon in the first place

Cartoons are hard to make. You need to make like 5 episodes with cool moments to take out of context and then you have to learn the sax and how to play synth and guitar and you need to buy a whole drum set and take singing lessons and get all of that together just for a good 30-second theme song otherwise people are gonna think it sucks.

All of this started because people didn't like Legend of Korra and the cult fanbase blamed blinding nostalgia for ATLA, even though it was only a 4 year gap and there was a movie in between.

I don't understand how adults can enjoy cartoons.
Comics I get because they're for manchildren.

Adults enjoy cartoons for a variety of reasons, often because the medium has evolved far beyond being just for children. Here are some of the key reasons:

Complex Storytelling and Mature Themes: Many modern animated shows are written specifically for adults. They explore complex topics like mental health, existentialism, and social commentary. Shows like BoJack Horseman, Arcane, or Rick and Morty are known for their intricate plots and mature themes that would be too difficult for a young audience to understand.

Nostalgia: Watching cartoons from one's childhood can be a comforting and enjoyable experience, bringing back positive memories and a sense of familiarity.

Humor and Satire: Cartoons can use satire and witty humor to comment on society, politics, and culture. The humor often operates on two levels—simple jokes for kids, and more sophisticated, subtle jokes that only an adult would catch.

Artistic Appreciation: Animation is an art form. Adults can appreciate the unique visual styles, creative character designs, and innovative storytelling techniques that can be done with animation but not as easily with live action.

Relatability: Just like live-action shows, cartoons can feature characters and situations that are deeply relatable. They often deal with universal emotions, relationships, and challenges that resonate with adult viewers, even when presented in an animated style.
