>a Hanna-Barbera cartoon that was originally released in theaters
>you'd think a theatrical series from the guys who made Tom and Jerry would have some decent animation
>lol no it's just as cheaply animated as the rest of Hanna-Barbera's shows
What was even the point?

Femme Loopy is one of the greatest things Hanna-Barbera's ever done.

Why do a lot of Hanna-Barbera's animal characters have weirdly flirty faces?

This was back when every major studio still released animated shorts. Columbia used to have UPA make their cartoons, but then they ditched them for Hanna-Barbera since they were a lot cheaper.

They were meant for TV but because no network wanted to pick it up and Kellogg's wasn't interested they were dumped to theaters.

Not the case, 1957-1963 Hanna Barbera kicked ass.

Tom and Jerry was financed directly by one of the biggest movie studios in the world and were expected to have a 7-minute short put out maybe once a month at their most popular.

The Hanna-Barbara cartoons were financed by fucking Corn Flakes and were expected to put out multiple 22 minute episodes every single week.

If anything, Loopy was put out so that all the guys who came to HB when Disney gutted its animation division had something to work on to keep their bills paid and not have to leave Burbank.

This is the most important thing that people who shit on HB or Bullwinkle don't understand, these shows saved the industry when theatrical shorts stopped reveiving funding. It wasn't possible to get full animation on television unless it was a commercial or interstitials that played between older shorts being reaired.

Yeah but then HB stopped giving a shit and made shows with shittier animation despite making a lot of money

That's kinda low, I think. Also why is nearly all of the art about a female wolf? I thought this was a male wolf character.

No it looks smug but you are a porn brain associating half lidded eyes with sex because porn artists use that motif with a smile to express sexual desire. In reality cartoon characters were infinitely more smug because at the time cartoons weren't taken very seriously so it was meant to be a psychological attack on people who were scared of cartoons. If you think I'm making it up look up the history of film in relation to cartoons that shit was practically black magic to the folks of yesteryear. The smugness was like a taunt because they knew even if the common man tried he'd never be able to replicate it and the smugness is intended to cause frustration

Their cheap animation wasn't cheap because they were cheap, it was because they had fuck all budget. They had NO CHOICE but to make cheap animation - they had no time, no budget, to make it look good.

I really like Loopy's character and voice. Everytime I watch it I laugh.

>A wolf who wants to make friends
>Everyone Hayes him because he is a wolf and doesn't trust him

Hanna-Barbera cartoons are the core and essence of cartoon and their 50s and 60s eras are perfect from the sounds, to facials, underscores, voice acting, dialogue, background art, character art, colouring, etc etc. thank you Joe and William.

Jellystone! spanned from cringe to meh with cheap mediocre animation. Worst was their massive hypocritical cope in the episode "Baby Shenanigans" where at the end Yogi got turned into his 1960's appearance and complained "I'm in so much pain"... not nearly as painful as watching the entire Jellystone! series, I regret it so much.
"Crisis on Infinite Mirths" was the most watchable simply due to the pure crossover insanity.
But ultimately the series served the purpose of refreshing the catalog of characters for IP/copyright/trademark/PR purposes.
