Do you like when Batman wears mech suit? Should modern Batman use more tech like that?

No, no, I hate it. Bruce Wayne is not Iron Man or anything like that. Keep that shit away. That's a totally different character archetype.

It's telling that batman does stuff like this but not green arrow (when he did it was undercover using batman's stuff for waller). They care more about making batman "the guy" instead of giving him a coherent identity.

Imagine if he used those mecchs on his actial villains who would need it like Solomon Grundy or Clayface

Batman should be a gadget using character, but a power armor is not a gadget. Neither some dumb shit like Failsafe or Brother Eye, those are not gadgets. Batman should never, ever make anything like those, he should not have the ability to.

Batman has always used the best tech available to assist him. If any tech is available, Batman should absolutely be using it, no exception, no argument.

No, it just begs the question why Batman doesn't wear the armor all the time and makes him a budget Ironman.

He doesn't use his plane or helicopter or ufo or spy satellite feeding thousands of nanotech mechmans every night, either.

Then that tech should not be available to him.

DC has plenty of heavy fighters. I'd be more impressed if they could do an effective job of showing a Batman that planed his way to not have to be in a battle than see how he planned to be in one. Granted, it's possibly a challenging thing to capture on comic pages.
Anonymous No.150277646 >>150278033
Absolutely not; part of the idea of batman that's been core to him ever since his inception is that he's just a man, and he uses things like stealth, gadgets, tactics, and martial arts to make up for that fact. He can beat up most criminals fairly easy, but he should never have such a tacit physical advantage to make fighting him meaningless, it's bad for the stakes of the story. Additionally, every time he does use one, it raises the question why doesn't use it all the time to avoid getting in any real danger against someone like bane or deathstroke. It's also just past the point of disbelief of how he was able to acquire it.

A suit of power armor that plugs into Gotham's power grid for the Dark Knight's final battle is cool.

It makes sense given how Batman is often depicted, but no I don't care for science-prep-time-God Batman in general, mech suits or no. It's the biggest reason my favorite part of Morrison's run by a mile is Batman & Robin.

It's worth noting that in context Batman still struggled against all the owl goons even with that suit, but it's still an aspect of Batman I don't care for. I prefer my Batman comics more subdued. Dark Patterns is the most I've enjoyed a Batman comic in a very long time.

Why doesn't he use this thing all the time to prevent the Joker from tickling his butthole all the time?

I dunno. I want to say yes, but there's something emotional convincing to the idea that it just makes Batman Ironman Lite. I wouldn't want Batman to be wearing pic related all the time - it wouldn't work for his nightly patrols and it'd strain credulity even further if he was at all stealthy in it. But if Batman knew he was going to go toe to toe with Bane, Killer Croc, or Solomon Grundy? Yeah, I think it'd make sense for Batman to go out in pic related. Same like if they're off in space going to fight Darkseid or Mongul.

If they gave Batman a suit in the vein of Batman Beyond that basically just looked like his normal suit, then that'd be fine with me. You could even forget about it most of the time, and I imagine most writers would.

he can do whatever the fuck he wants, hes the goddamn Batman, if he feels adventurous he wears the lightly armed pajamas, if he fights Firefly he wears the fire retardant one, if he's going against Killer Croc he carries Bat-knuckles dusters and nerve gas, thats the thing, Batman's always ready

No. I like when Batman comes up with creative gadget solutions instead of getting into a giant robot to punch stuff. In combat I prefer seeing his actual skills of the martial art forms that he has mastered. However, without some things like this sometimes you can't really have him fight the giant things so.

It'd make sense for a version of Batman that's part of the Justice League, but Batman stories tend to become diminished when they're forced to cross over with the rest of the DC universe.

Fuck no. It exacerbates the main issue that’s plagued Batman for 30 years, and the fallacy his modern popularity stems from; he’s stuck in a universe that forces him to punch miles above his weight forever. Batman was built for, and is still at his best in, street level stories. He’s a detective and a martial artist. That means that the only way for it to “make sense” for him to be dealing with cosmic threats is an ever expanding closet of random bullshit he can pull out at the writers behest. None of it makes sense, none of it is really earned, but it comes out so quickly that writers can rely on shock and awe instead of an explanation. They’ve been doing this so frequently for so long now that there are in essence two different Batman, his street level origins and the LARPer who dresses like him but has access to anything as the plot demands it.
