The downside of reading is it takes time . Stuff like characters and plot is easy. I have better things to do than read books . Can I write flowery fiction style writing? No. But I don't want to.

This is definitely a problem with western capeshit, and alot of Shonen. Webcomics also have that issue, with so many of them obviously being influenced by a few comics the author likes. Sometimes it works, but alot of comics in general would benefit from taking influence from stories outside their genres.

Actually for me I take references of panel layouts from all the comics and manga I've read, and then wing it from there. I'm not great at explaining my technique, not that I'm good at panel layouts or anything.

Don't the perfection be the enemy of good.
Of course, you don't even think your art is good but, tell that story even with stick figures. Get the story out and then iterate on it or draw a different story and "get familiar" with the process of drawing. So draw more and push through the negativity of "whatever I draw fucking sucks", that's the wall you NEED to get over.

I'm going to repeat myself. GET FAMILIAR WITH THE PROCESS OF DRAWING. THE PROCESS, NOT THE PRODUCT. Get comfortable with wielding the pencil or pen, of making the strokes on paper or on screen. When your drawing looks "off", use reference and draw it again. If you can't find enjoyment in the process of drawing, then you should stop thinking about trying this, maybe try writing instead, or making memes. It's as simple as that.

Here's a question. Thoughts on different methods of releasing web comics. I have seen 3. Obviously the monthly schedule, where you release every month. Seems a bit grueling. The drop whenever you are ready, which for the reader is agonizing. And the drop a few pages per week crowd. Basically you either make a whole chapter and drip feed it or you release the pages you have done so far and continue to work on the pages left. It's a bit of a middle ground where reader gets content consistently but the author gets more wiggle room to breathe. It sounds like the best but it means kind of planning ahead so you can keep up with it.

Personally I usually complete a batch of 16 pages. Then, I upload a pair per week during two months. Then I go back into my cave to work on more pages and upload once I got another batch ready. Here is a brief synopsis of what my current OC projects are. I would try to make them a short as i can, as i don't want to overwhelm you all with lots of information (i still ended doing that so apologizes.

The first and the main OC story is a science-fantasy story about Techno-magical Knights who protect their world from corrupted techno-beasts. These creatures, originally part of society as your typical elemental mons, are cured rather than destroyed.

The protagonists of this story are twins, one male and one female, where they are chosen to become knights and have to fulfill the role of one. Though the brother desists of being a knight while the sister is eager to be one, in the end, they would have to they would have to learn their responsibilities, make allies and rivals, and find their own way of fulfilling their roles.

They eventually uncover a conspiracy within the Knight order, forcing them to abandon the academy and travel the world. Along the way, they would end up unraveling the deeper mysteries of their world.
The story initially would start as your typical coming of age story of mons & henshin heroes seemingly aimed to a younger audience, but it would slowly have serious tone that deconstructs said tropes and focus on destiny, choice, and growth.

And as you might imagine, this story would have elements inspired on Bionicle, Megaman, Kamen Rider and Bakugan, so there you have some ideas of what this would be.

The second and this is the one which i am working on for a portfolio proyect is a fantasy story about witches who protect people’s dreams from nightmare creatures.

They live in a dream world shaped by human imagination and can cross into the human world to battle these threats.

Each witch has unique powers beyond elements ranging from object manipulation to energy manipulation.

The protagonist is an antisocial teenager who relies on her own that one day, she accidentally enters the dream world and becomes a witch. At first, she’s only interested in uncovering the nature of this world, but increasing nightmare attacks force her to cooperate with others.

Her journey centers on learning to trust and connect with fellow witches, however her troubled past starts to growth in her new witch life, threatening her growth and her relationships.

This story is still in development and isn't very fleshed out like in the previous one, but it would eventually have more elements so it can be a solid story. Tho, i don't want to have too much elements as i want this story to be in a small scale.

The third and last one for now is a story about a town full of halloween monsters (vampires, werewolfs, ghouls, ghosts, sea monsters, mummies, etc),

The protagonist is a boy teenager (yeah, again) discovering what the town is about (he is there because his parents with his younger sister recently moved there) by interacting with the peculiar and charismatic people from the town.

However, he is involved in a conflict about each monster race from the town hating other monsters from the same town and he needs to find a way to solve this.

His mission would lead him to a mystery that the town has from a long time ago, but solving this would be difficult as an organization of hunters appears in the town wanting to exterminate the monsters from there so that there aren't any of them living in the earth forever.

You might consider this story too cheesy and weak, and you might be right because this story is still in the idea phase, but the reason i want to make this is because i would like to have a story that is a loveletter to those animated proyects that has spooky elements on it (see gravity falls, paranorman, scooby doo, school of vampires, you name it), but making it in a serious thing, similar to Darkstalkers which is also a major inspiration for this.

Nono, even while I'm still in the uploading period of Batch A I'll work in the meantime on the pages for Batch B (if I have the time, of course). Once Batch A is fully uploaded, I don't upload any more pages until the 16 pages for Batch B are ready.

Sometimes I keep some later pages at about 90% completion (only things left to do are just details, maybe touch-up the dialogue) and I'll start uploading anyways, knowing that I can quickly finish them up as I go. However I don't recommend this, it's just how I roll.

Yes of course, if you already made it and you have a huge audience you can basically do whatever you want really.

Also thoughts on what I call the 4 panel format. It's not exactly new but I feel like you have seen an upsurge in people using the format, mainy because that is how Twitter works. And of course, we've seen the rise in a serialized 4 panel comics. The different formats of comic are interesting. Japanese internet users with the 1-2 page esque comics, tending to be POV comics.
