i don't think i've ever watched a show that had so much potential with its world building, characters and ideas and yet miraculously manage to fumble virtually all of them. for example, i like the dynamic with the humans and elves magic ability and i think the magic system for dark magic is both cool and nuanced in that its morally and environmentally damaging, but is necessary for human survival. only for the show to shit all over that idea in later seasons. the show also cant seem to decide if the dragons are these wise, ancient gods, or man hunting monsters.

its a show that has only gotten worse each season and yet im fascinated to see where it goes in the future.

I'm still in awe at how badly they fucked up. They had a Romeo and Juliet romance, it was the only thing the show had going for it. Then the timeskip happened and the show established (1) Rayla treated Callum like shit by ghosting him, (2) Callum needed to just get over it and not be angry, and (3) humans and elves being in love is no big deal. Lots of humans and elves are in love. Why, the head of the humans' army and the queen of the elves are in love!
Again: All they had going for them was the Romeo and Juliet romance and they sabotaged it from multiple angles. Incredible.

I also remembered that in a recent question and answer someone asked if Claudia was all alone these year's after the conflict and they replied with another question with something like "Do you believe that Claudia is someone who would remain alone?".
