The entire season was filmed and (maybe) in post-production. Netflix still controls the rights to it because of their deal with Dark Horse and now the zombie VC company managing Dark Horse's remains. As far as I can remember Netflix has never licensed one of their shows (maybe outside of the Marvel deal) to another company or streaming service.

Almost certainly, granted a lot of this early anime/manga influence was more surface level and more visuals/ proportions than page composition. Even if he didn't directly cite influences,so many other indies were inspired by anime (and literally anime, not as much manga-- funny that even in Japan there would be a coming wave of artists inspired by anime more than manga).
You could probably find some manga if you were in the scene at least. Any place in a major city with a significant Japanese population would be importing books, especially on the west coast. And considering Comic con was in SD, a lot of them could get into circulation that way. I wouldn't be surprised if Wagner looked at(if not read) some Tezuka since there were already some books and a handful of translations ofMighty Atom/Astro Boy in the early 80s. Or course there could just be the influence of Astro Boy being on US TV too.

Hunter isn't just an archetypal caricature of a young successful man, he's a walking vortex of evil who sucks in and destroys everything around himself. Hes an identity being put on by Eddie but he's really all thats left of him. From the time Jocasta dies to the time he's killed he lives as a creature of pure ego who whole heartedly believes he's the greatest thing alive and views murder as a sport where he always wins. And to be quite honest I get none of that from Ali. No offense to the guy but hes a generic pretty boy who really doesn't appear to have the look or physical presence to pull off Hunter. And yes the fact that they seemingly (I didn't see it in the leaked stuff so correct me if im wrong here) couldn't even be bothered to give him Hunters trademark white streaks is very much a red flag.

You're not wrong about Hunter being a vortex of evil, but also he is keenly aware of the persona he has constructed, how he can use it to manipulate people to his favor. Hell, the whole Batman/Grendel book is one big "we're not so different" thing comparing Hunter and Bruce.
Yeah, Ali is a prettyboy, but if someone were to make a Grendel today, that's what a celebrity author the public adors would look like.

If we're gonna complain about changed appearances for ANYONE it'd be Jocasta. She's supposed to be mother/lover but has no resemblance to Hunter whatsoever, meanwhile, no matter what artist draws her in the comic or what art/hair style, it's ALWAYS dark hair.
Anyways, this whole discussion is ridiculous cause neither of us can watch this fuckin thing!

Regardless of the role he's currently playing Hunter should always exude some degree of malice. Its the kind of character where no matter what hes doing he should never look "normal". Even though they are similar Bruce and Batman are polar opposites whereas Grendel is a direct extension of Hunter and vice versa.
>If we're gonna complain about changed appearances for ANYONE it'd be Jocasta.
This ties into my further concerns about this project. From whst Ive read the origins of Hunter and his relationship with Jocasta have been completely changed. With the age gap stuff being completely removed or downplayed and Hunters (unclear if he is ever going to be Eddie) life going on for a while without her until he hears of her death second hand. He was then going to become a troubled anti hero who wanted to hunt down her killers before getting wrapped up in the mob stuff.
