Was it really? Outside of the episodes where Mabel's friend group basically acts like a hivemind, I don't recall Candy having much personality besides being geeky, possibly somewhat crafty (her finger claw things), and hating Pacifica, the latter two of these being dropped by mid season 2. They really had nothing to do with this character and it almost feels like this episode was made out of spite because Dana or Emmy C or some other chick on the staff hated WMAF.

the irony is, in an episode that starts out with "confidence is great, Dipper's finally happy, even though it's fucking insane to suggest he needs to 'get over' Wendy since she obviously likes him but whatever", and then pivots hard to "Dipper's confidence is wrong and he's awful because it's 2014 and Disney and everyone's a fucking moron now", actually ends with "Dipper obviously should have manned up and fought for Candy at the end, she was basically begging him to"

I'm still convinced that this episode was originally meant to take place/air before Northwest Mansion Mystery, but it got pushed back and replaced with The Love God, while The Love God was meant to take place after NMM. Alex keeps insisting otherwise, but I don't believe him.
