Why are so many acclaimed comic writers so genuinely awful?

they dont write by committee like most TV does, so the best doesn't rise above other issues like a good episode. Also if a writer has a specific breed of bad it becomes way more noticeable, can't hide it in actors like Sorkin either.

There's your answer the majority of comic fans have god awful taste and also only read capeshit

Just so happens that shit writers happened to be better businessmen and sell their shit to a larger audience, lulling the normies into thinking these are good writers because they don't know anything else.
It's how Mark Millar's trash keeps getting adapted (and every single time the adaptation happens to be way better than the original).
It's how people were clamoring for MCU to adapt Civil War and House of M, etc

Most of them don't read books or have an interest in things like history, science, psychology, or the cultures of other countries. If you want to improve as an writer, you need to read a lot and generally be a curious person.

Most comic book writers read nothing but capeshit.

This is why Alan Moore was too good for capeshit (and knew it, too). Also genuinely talented writers like Moore understand that companies like Marvel and DC treat their talent like shit and that they're better off getting writing deals from real book publishers.

Taylor is nowhere near as bad as these three

King is not awful. But he lacks range and only can write a type of story with barely any changes.

that hack is good at shit there's a reason he had to go to comics to get famous, no one would give a rats ass about this retard if he just wrote books

James Gunn unironically hyped up Tom King as "the greatest comic book writer ever" and took his advice for Superman (2025) and the Supergirl movie coming out next year is going to be based on his plagiarism of True Grit where he just wrote Rooster Cogburn in a Kara Zor-El skinsuit.

Injustice did a number of normalfag impressions of Superman to the point a depressing number of them genuinely believe that Lois is his sole tether to humanity/sanity and it will take "Just One Bad Day" of her dying before he snaps and goes full Homelander/Omni-Man/Brightburn/Sentry/Zod on everyone.

Tom Taylor also infamously has a huge boner for Harley Quinn as shown by the blatant double-standard Bruce had for her culpability in nuking Metropolis being roughly equal to the Joker's and her victim-blaming Supes because "she didn't actually think it would work", when the Kents (rightfully) forbade her from entering the Fortress of Solitude she was sulky and the panel was clearly meant to elicit pity for her from the reader and then later Ra's al Ghul outright calls her out on her bullshit and instead of having any sort of rebuttal she just headbutts him and its treated as an epic girlboss moment for Harley.

Oh, but Clark killed the Joker and invading Parademons so he's "Out of Control" there are legitimate reasons to criticize Kal-El but both those points were fucking retarded for Bruce to lose his shit over.

His talent lies in comics because that's the road he chose and that's what he had a passion for at the time.

Bendis appeals to the network TV-watching crowd. King emulates good comics cosmetically (such as copying the format and structure of Watchmen) without actually making them good. I don't know who the bottom two attract.
