I had an autistic obsession with this film and it’s worldbuilding when I was like 11, I constantly watched videos about it, and this film has a rather large cult following online that’s full of spergs obsessed with appliance models and shit like that.

There are a couple of niche autists or lolcows online I’ve seen that love this movie, like that anthro car fetishist guy on Deviantart for example.

You don’t see other obscure films gaining tism followings like this, like sure you can argue it’s electronic geeks who love this film but you don’t see Help I’m A Fish gaining a cult following of autistic marine biologist fans or shit like that.

It’s probably because the idea of electronics coming to life when nobody’s looking is an incredibly fun idea for spergs to play around with. Much like how Toy Story is popular among kids because the idea of toys they own coming to life and having a secret world is a fun imaginative concept for them.

Tbf the original Brave Little Toaster movie wasn’t afraid to go into the darker implications of its worldbuilding, based on stuff like the repair shop and the junkyard scenes.

Although the sequels feel much more safe and this balloon song wasn’t intentionally creepy like the scenes from the original film.
