There was an issue about Starscream's past.
He used to be Ulchtar, a scientist that cherished all life. One day, he was able to made Omega Supreme wave at him, just before Jetfire departed to find a solution to Cybertron's energy crisis.
However shit happened and Ulchtar became Starscream, becoming corrupted by Megatron and becoming the bastard we know.
What happened here is that Omega Supreme remembered Ulchtar and waved at him, which reminded Starscream of who he truly was.

Jazz hasn't really had any character moments despite being one of the longest lasting Autobots, and the others are too new to have done much of anything.

I have to say this has been a pretty good series.
I hope they make a new transformers comic where the human is the alien on Cybertron and the human is the the transformers introduction to humanity. Trans warp experiment brings a human or a human family to cybertron while they were on a family road trip.

The family would give off radiation of primal energon or something and decepticons wants them for experiments and to find the source of the primal energon and autobots are trying to save the family and get them home with out decepticons finding the coordinates.

You're just fucking around, you don't actually think I'm saying that the idea of an evil character being redeemed is a new concept in Transformers, in and of itself. But I appreciate that because it gives me a reason to bump the thread by over-explaining my opinion.

What happened here was a wild 180 for this specific incarnation of Starscream because he initially appeared to have no redeeming qualities at all, even when compared against other Decepticons. Him surviving and developing further would be surprising because, in this particular continuity (and in any other story that kills off characters with similar frequency), getting minimal character development and then dying is the default, while having a "complete"/satisfying character arc is novel. I'm also poking fun at edgy/shock-value-heavy stories by suggesting that things which are normally considered cliche (like characters surviving unsurvivable injuries because it would be more dramatic, or redemption arcs) are a subversion of expectations within the context of those stories.

Nothing. That's part of what makes it interesting. Over a long enough time scale, he could save more people than he's killed, but saving one person doesn't give you a free pass to murder someone else later, so I don't believe that "balancing the scales" in that sense would somehow wipe his slate clean. He would have to choose to change even with the knowledge that the things he's done can't be fixed.

So how's everyone feeling about the coming change in writer (and/or artist)?

Personally, I've never enjoyed Kirkman's work, so I'm not getting my hopes up. I'll read at least issue 25 out of curiosity, but on some level I'm looking at this issue as the end of the story. I also like the gritty art style of the first 24 issues and I think it compliments the narrative well, but without knowing how the story will be written going forward, I'm not going to write off the new art yet. Maybe the tone will change in a way that makes the new art style fitting.

Starscream "growing to be a better person" is just as played out as him actually getting some lasting comeuppance for his actions, frankly I'm tired of the idea of him in particular getting nothing short of slaps on the wrists just because "he says he's sorry!" (mostly because that concept almost exclusively only gets high demand from weird foids that want to fuck him), it especially doesn't fit this version after what we've seen him being capable of doing without Megatron keeping him on a leash, I know everything from here on out is hinting at an eventual resurrection, but I at least hope he stays like this for the entirety of the next arc, I don't have the patience for another 2 issues dedicated to showing how much of a goody-two-shoes he was before the war.

I agree that it can be justified, but I think it's a bad choice in general. You have a very climactic moment between two iconic leaders, and then the goodguys saved by your very special new character. It felt like a bad taste even if Shredhead really isn't that bad character. I guess that the only one alternative that could be made if autobots were saved by humans but I feel that everyone would hate that even if narratively it would be more fitting.

Ulchtar(blue eyes) is Starscream's real name.

They were shown leaving the car right before Megatron stomps it. Normally the explosion and the shrapnel would injure or kill them but this is a comic. I see it as the creators presenting it in a way that they can deny people died if they get into trouble for it.

I want an Autobot Starscream who acts as the Squidward/D&D Cavalier of the group. The jackass teammate who gets his comeuppance for his personality flaws, but who occassionally shows enough competence and redeeming qualities that neither the readers nor the characters question why he is being tolerated.
I don't want him to go down Drift's path and become some noble fighter or to go Armada Starscream's route and show that he was noble underneath all along.
But I also don't want him trying to usurp Optimus or not being afraid of Megatron anymore.

I think that's (part of) the point. We're seeing some of the last survivors from an ancient war who, despite having lost almost everything worth fighting for long ago, are still determined to keep the war going regardless of the circumstances. For all Megatron's posturing about how he's got what it takes to save Cybertron (and how Optimus doesn't), he'd rather spend the last of his resources fighting the last of his enemies than actually try to fix anything. It's like walking into a heavyweight boxing match in the 12th round and seeing that somehow both fighters are still landing hammerblows on eachother's face despite both of them barely being able to stand.

That said, I wouldn't mind a little breathing room at this point.

He could have stopped when he believed Megatron dead, but he didn't.

If he turns blue permanently, I'm expecting him having to deal with the fact he was a utter piece of shit for million of years and mos of that was NOT forced by Megatron.

Perpetual suffering is fun and all but I could go for a scene or two of all the major Autobots and humans just chilling. Seeing how characters act when they’re not under threat of imminent death adds texture.
