I got no idea what you are talking about, it was even better than the first movie and I'm looking forward to seeing it again. The only thing disappointing is how sluggish it's been at the box office. It should have done like $400 million but I guess August is a lousy month to release animated movies. At least it's past the profit threshold though and it'll pass $200 million by the end of the week. I'm disappointed that it never held the #1 spot at the box office, though, even though it made more money overall than any of the movies it's been up against. Like the first movie, it had a soft start but has decent legs.

I saw an animatic for the movie's climax the other day and in one of the earlier drafts it went even more extreme than the final release. It might have been a bit too much, although it was wild. The gold magjnet starts ripping out giant gold ore deposits from the earth's crust and Kitty's heist starts turning into a geological catastrophe. The way Wolf actually beats her is that he sabotaged the life support system on her space suit and uses it to stop her heart while she's fighting. It was fuckin' brutal.

Given that Kitty doesn't have a redemption arc in the final version of the movie I'm kind of glad that they nixed her backstory with Diane. that would have been kind of depressing if they showed that Diane brought an innocent kid down a wrong path, and wasn't able to pull her back after she gave up crime. And if they'd left both the backstory and Kitty's redemption arc in there then the movie would feel like it's about Diane and Kitty instead of Wolf's existential crisis about how much worse his life seems now that he's gone good. That would get kind of overshadowed by what's essentially the same message from the first movie.

I didn't see the first movie so I didn't get why they wanted to be good. I'm familiar with the Sly Cooper genre. I get them but the Bad Guys motives didn't make sense. Now if they wanted to beat Kitty into stealing all the gold from space for fun, that'd make sense more.

Oh thank heavens, I won't go into the TBG2 fan threads here and trash talk it, but I saw this over the weekend and I was like 'wha--what the hell, man?'. I did not care for it. The first one was fun but boy the 2nd was really disappointing. I contemplated asking for a refund but eh... sat it out to the end.

where does the idea it's disappointing come from? I thought it was entertaining even if a little contrived at times. Certainly not as well structured as the first but if you didn't pick up on Marmalade trying to distract Diane, using Kitty, and then blasting off into fucking space then I don't think you understand who the real bad guy is. Kitty and her crew were manipulated just like wolf was in the first one. remember the quote: " You have great potential, Wolf. But at some point, you're going to have to choose between your friends, or the good life."

Why'd they reform? They weren't doing it for the money. There was no explanation in the second movie why they wanted to change. That's the important part. Motive not reason. There wasn't any.

I can't. They lost me when they were talking about fear vs respect. The wolf guy claimed respect is earned. Clearly who ever wrote it had no life experience. I know people who work real hard to keep a fearful rep because its part of their job. I don't think this franchise has anything to offer me. If they banked on being dumb and fun instead trying to be pseudo insightful, then maybe. Chief woman was best character though. Had a lot of nuance to her character. Reminded me of Zenigata from Lupin. Like I said, I'm familiar with the genre but Bad Guys just aren't doing it right.
