I actually thought the animation for Kratos vs. Asura was good. I know a lot of people had problems with it, but I thought it was great.

Even if you disagree about Asura losing, given the power gap between the two it makes sense for Kratos to take little damage. It also put Kratos in some kind of a mentor or elder role to Asura, and let Kratos show how far he had come by defeating someone who had been down the same path as him. He wasn't just fighting Asura, he was TEACHING Asura. And I think that's very heartwarming in a way. That Kratos would take the lessons he learned and help someone who was just like him.

If this weren't a Death Battle I'm sure they would have ended cordially and taught each other well. The alternate ending is weird, even if heartwarming in its own way. It was nice to see Kratos reunite with his daughter, but it feels weird to have him just stand there and take that punch.

I haven't played Asura's game though (but after watching this fight I think I might watch a playthrough!) so I might be missing stuff but as a big GoW fan I thought they did Kratos justice and from what I saw they treated Asura with the utmost respect. What character has ever gotten an alternate ending made just for them?

No quick time events, the one time they try to add one of those they pull a pixelated low effort asset from AW that immediately turns into a purple rectangle.
The fight feels slow and floaty when GoW is characterized for it's heavy moments that really transmit the strength and weight of Kratos's attacks (an easy example is Helios's decapitation QTE, Kratos decapitates a bunch of monsters in his games but this one scene makes you work for it so you can feel the strength needed to rip someone's head off) and Ashura's Wrath is know for it's fast paced big action moments.
They lost the opportunity to make the QTE evolve during the fight mixing GoW and AW buttons.

Genuinely Weiss vs Mitsuru being as high as it is is still an impressive figure for Death Battle. It's a side character from RWBY vs a side character from the least popular modern Persona game, which already isn't a massive series, especially in 2019 when the episode aired. It's the same as Killua vs Misaka, where it flopped relative to other episodes but it's still kind of impressive it got 1 million as quickly as it did.

I read that whole thing like ten years ago, I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about it.
A lot of it sucked, but there were some cool ideas.
But also those cool ideas got ran into the dirt.
Archie Sonic is kinda like the culmination of how Western Sonic and Eastern Sonic couldn't really ever mix.
It was always a matter of trying to take dominion over the character and narrative in one direction or the other.
Of course it was always going to be a losing battle for people like Penders, since the games were the primary media.

An earlier writer, Gallagher, loved Tails and introduced Turbo Tails as his first superform and promised a huge “destiny” plot will happen later where he’ll become a greater hero than Sonic or Knuckles
Then he got kicked out and Penders and later Ian came on who couldn’t care less about Tails, and they foisted this huge Tails plot onto a b-story by pellerito where he shat it out as lazily and anti climacticly as possible and made none pf it even matter or make tails a hero. So yeah that was all for nothing

If they brought Archie Tails on his only feats would be “errr this one form he can never take again sucked an elephant up his butt and magnetised some chaos emeralds to his location. He has no other powers than this and needs Sonic/Shadow to do everything.”
