It's actually very likely that it's from a specific ancient culture we know almost nothing about. There's actually a handful of their stories that have found their way into cultures around the worlds since seemingly the beginning of recorded history. The really annoying thing is that we know almost nothing about the culture that started those myths outside of the idea that they were prolific fucking story tellers.
The flood myth appears as far as fucking china for instance and as far back as the first recorded story: Gilgamesh, which is an ancient Babylonian (or Mesopotamian) story. The Gilgamesh version is likely older than the old testament version too, by tens of thousands of years, but even it isn't the first version of the flood story because Gilgamesh treats it like a story everyone just knows without any introductions. The Chinese version is also pretty old and the 2 oldest include some pieces that the Hebrew version lacks. Specifically some kind of serpent or a monstrous snake. Shit is actually wild when you start looking into it.
Jack and Beanstalk might also be a story this ancient culture told, but it's unclear. I had no idea Jack and the Beanstalk was as old as it was until I started looking into that shit.
