Her looks match is being beheaded by a cartel right now after having his limbs hacked off by a machete and having his face cut off. He was held for ransom but his family cared more about his sister keeping up good college funds and let him die painfully, the last thing he saw before he died gasping and choking on his own blood was his killer wearing his face ramming down the machete into his throat.
Also Archie comics. I like the classic runs that are purely humor.

Neither are childhood friends though, but both are youth love and overall cute.
Longtime friends I only have one that features one of them turning "trans", but it's mostly melodrama and the writer lost his gas by the middle of it and the whole thing is kind of meh and ends suddenly.
