As a kid, I had one of the X-Men games on the Gameboy Color, and it had profiles for everyone with their real names included, which was the first time I saw a lot of them, in that fuzzy little text, and my brother read "Jubilation Lee" as "Jubilaton Lee". Jew-bil-a-ton. And he called her that for YEARS afterward. It never seemed to occur to him that Jubilaton is not a name but jubilation is in fact a word. One quite similar in subject to "jubilee", a celebration.

We've known that for a while. She's a natural fit in any case, distinctive design that can be easily modified for the game's art style while keeping all her recognizable elements, easy ability kit ideas from her powers with plenty of fancy particle effects, and a good variety of alternate looks from comics to mine for costumes. You are confusing datamined code references being added or removed with characters actually being developed for the game. Datamining references being removed doesn't tell you anything, and them being added only tells you "this character is at some stage of development".

For example, Rogue and Gambit were datamined as the Season 5 additions some time ago, complete with voicelines from existing characters referencing them, and the new Season 4 gallery cards have a very direct, if not outright blatant hint that they are indeed the next heroes added, yet in the current game code patched today for the Season 4 start, their IDs were among the references removed, while others were added. What does this mean? Fuck all. We aren't privy to the development of this game, we have no idea why a character reference is added or removed from code in a patch.

There are other indicators for a character being an imminent release, as we got for Phoenix, Blade, Daredevil, Angela and have for Rogue and Gambit.

Jubilee wasn't in the first post launch wave of datamined names either, she was found later than that along with Gambit, Nightcrawler and a couple of others, and as for the "have been cancelled" thing, literally just never happened at all, you're way off base

Well they went through a long period of not knowing what to do with her, she bounced around different teams, had different gimmicks, like Wondra, then vampire Jubilee, only in the last few years have they really just gone back to her 90s toots for her costume and powerset, and stopped trying to "move past" her 90s kid look, leaning into it instead but modernizing it. That's the look people recognize her with from the 90s show, it's silly to try to downplay it.

Her being in X-Men '97 and receiving one of her newer outfits in it helps too. No more getting shunted off to a minor side team.

It seemed to me like there was a generation of writers that didn't like her being the replacement for Kitty Pryde as the young kid sidekick to Wolverine and often shunted her into side teams or changed her persona and look greatly, as if her 90s look was a problem or "dated". But of course, now the 90s are not last decade, it's now long enough that it's simply retro, and there's a generation of writers AND fans that grew up with her as the young girl of the team and naturally see her as one of the signature members, so her modern appearances just have her trademark look with the yellow jacket, sunglasses and bubblegum intact.

Still haven't really made her a heavy hitter but she does more than make firecrackers anyway.

No. She had a crush on Wolverine wen she first joined up but that was a childish thing and pretty quickly their relationship moved more into father/daughter. A big part of Generation X was her fighting with Monet over Synch but it was always one sided and Synch was always more seriously into Monet. When she came back in Austen's Uncanny run she said that Skin wanted to get with her when they were roommates but she wasn't interested and during the shitty 2010s Generation X series the writer tried pushing her and Chamber as a thing but it never went anywhere once that ended.

I think she was pushed with some gangbanger in Kirkman's series but that book may as well be non-canon because of how quickly it was cancelled and the fact I don't think it's ever been referenced. There was Tim Drake in the Marvel vs. DC stuff but by its nature that never went anywhere and Tim takes dick up the ass now so no chance of seeing it revisited in the new stuff.

It's stupid and goes against her character. Her powers manifesting was traumatic for her and she intentionally doesn't use them in all that powerful a manner because of it because she's not really that type of person. The only times she's ever "powerful" like that are when she's extremely upset and not in control of her emotions which is fine and how it should be IMO. Jubilee's an inherently nice person who's more about using her wits and empathy than raw power so making er just another nuker would be both OOC and lessen what makes her a good character.

I feel like so many writers really forget what actually makes Jubilee such a great character to go "lol '90s" or "she's everyone's cool sister". It's the fact she's been through a lot of shit despite her age and come out of it grounded and compassionate. She can be a brat and runs her mouth but she ultimately cares deeply about the people around her and does't want to see them fall to pieces and isn't afraid to be blunt about telling them to get their shit together or to pull themselves up.

Also, Synch is legitimately the most boring character in the series and the one that seemingly nobody had any idea what to do with. Also, Hickman has never read an X-Men book in his life.
