I get what you mean, it's just that duing the 80s and 90s the American right was voting out the David Duke types and David Duke himself. They settled for the less racist Diet Conservativism that coded their language more and were not as overt as David Duke. Charlie Kirk is no David Duke, but he's a sign that that coding wasn't just an accusation, it's been real as Kirk's positions are right of mainstream conservatives. They don't talk like him though they may believe like him. His death shines a light on how true that is because before he was a cheerleader in the background, now his fans are coming out of the woodwork to say "he's just like me, would you be happy if I died??" and people need to contend with the fact that all that Alligator Alcatraz talk, all that hatred of empathy, were from people who want you to love them even though they would gladly tell you that love you have for them is suicidal.
What about the opposite? Liberals fight for the right for people to fly swastika like the ACLU. They fight for religious freedom. Just like gun rights and car rights come with acceptable deaths without accusations of suicidality, they fight for rights generally. Rightwing takeover is the price to pay, right?
