This wouldn't work. Part of why the actual bracket is a better metric is exclusivity of choice: being forced to say "I prefer this character over the other." There's nothing like that in Qualifiers, it just a simple metric of recognizing/generally liking a certain character and not even the top seeds get a majority of voters ticking their box.

Taking Qualifiers as the metric would have put Loona at 3rd place one year, which is obviously wrong. There are people who voted for Loona in Qualifiers who would pick some other option if she went up against them, and there are people who voted for neither Loona nor her opponent in Qualifiers and prefer her opponent for whatever reason. You're seeing the natural course of actual competition, and yeah, the strong ones are consistent. The only way to solve this is to make it less of a competition.

I recognize its way too late in the game to consider stuff like this but what are some deep cut girls you're surprised never make it in at all? We've got all these DC gals in the running but I dont think Aya was ever nominated period. Feels like a missed opportunity

You can expand a field forever until it's meaningless. At a certain point you have to draw a line and say this is the contest, like it or leave it. Otherwise it has no point.

You could expand the field of nominees at the Oscars from 5 to 50, but all that would do is make the ceremony nine hours long and with 45 of those nominees no more likely to win the award than if they hadn't been nominated at all.

It's a 128 character tournament. If your character can't get in, too bad, join the club, there's about 1300 other characters who didn't get in either.

This is pretty much my problem with Ragatha. It's clear with Pomni out Ragatha is basically acting as the autism center of TADC as well as campaigner-core voters and supporters. Had Pomni been in this year she'd have a good chance of winning and would probably beat Ragatha 1v1. Ragatha is acting as a big convergence in this "boring" E8 and so meta-wise feels like the most likely to win now.
