Sony has no say about things like the comics.
They have licensed permission to exploit Spidey in theatrical and they have say in whether that turns into things like comic run synergy versus Disney having full control, like they do with One World Under Doom. But Sony can't tell Marvel Editorial what to do.

I'd rather see a Bugle/DP team up, so we get some Spidey back-up characters and villains and some Metropolis characters and villains. Let Jonah and Perry be old war buddies and have them chomp cigars in some seedy bar while challenging each other to a pool game and some villains wonder in and hold them ransom and Spidey has to save the day but is caught up in scheme where Superman needs to help as well.
