Superman is currently a weird topic to broach, he's basically become a "pop-culture religious symbol", in that now people are "converting" and treating him literally like superhero Jesus, I mean literally a hopecore messiah, instead of just another superhero, which is both nice and concerning

I'm sure they did complete with autistic fights over canon and catty snide shots directed at people they disliked. People bring up Lancelot and Galahad essentially being French wank additions. Look at Indian mythology and there's a lot of one upping of each other. Old gods become the punching bags of new ones and eventually forgotten. Or you get new interpretations that mix up influences like this cultural exchange resulting in Heracles becoming the guardian of the Buddha.
