In Transformers, Deceptions are wildly more iconic than the Autobots save for two, tree including Grimlock. Good guy toys might sell better to kids or so Hasbro says, but within the fiction and fandom it's the Decepticons who reign

The Decepticons are frontloaded with A listers where the Autobots are loaded with B-listers. The first year being like a third of the characters as the Autobots. Every single first year Decepticon became notable except Maybe Buzzsaw, where as the autobots had to compete. It doesn't help how many white or red autobots are in that first year either.

Nobody liked Bumblebee growing up it's amazing what Animated and Bayformers did for G1 Bee retroactively, if those didn't exist that box would have Ironhide, Jazz, Prowl, or Grimlock

G1 toon design is so kino, everything else is too stylized one way or the other. Beast Wars gets props for being equally cool while being different but really when you think about it it's super 90s, the TMNT mouths, gross out details, obsession with purple, orange, and lime green, making non threatening animals look all extreme and pissed. Today new fan people would probably be turned off

My only problem is Primal's weird mask window (and lets face it, its for expression's sake, he shouldn't have it period). But I love the colored face and more curvy design.
I wouldn't mind regular transformers with those curves, especially when modern vehicles are far less boxy than in the 80s.

I'll say it was in a bad way, since their vehicles mode looks like they wouldn't work. Rodimus should have been a Darkar Rally inspired truck imo, instead of a sport car who is getting backshots from a trailer.
Also, Blackarachnia is way more curvy than Arcee lmao.

Its a cool idea since you can work the V-fin into it. However, I feel like Rodimus should be slimer but taller than Optimus, and I dunno how it would work with an Iveco Powerstar or a Kamaz.
Its too bad that the sunbow guys didn't have much care for the vehicles.

Everything that isnt a part of the truck or a neccesity or a part that can be swapped by team driving it is left with a crew at the end of the stage

Hasbro opts not to push either because they only want to push one because they're the same mold. Comic and Bay fans want Ratchet but Sunbow fags want Ironhide only. So it's easier to not push either

Megatron, Soundwave, Starscream and Shockwave, and that last one is debatable. Every other Decepticon is a B or C lister, barring Devastator who isn't remembered for his individual components.

Jazz since he used to do the roll call. Ratchet because he was the MC in the Marvel comics for while when Shockwave destroyed everyone. Maybe Jetfire too since his toy was based on Macross. I feel like Hot Rodimus Prime is getting some love recently, as everyone got over Optimus' death.

Ratchet being a medic is a bit awkward since any "scientist" type character can just as easily fill that role, like Wheeljack or Perceptor.

Jetfire is a weird case since he's constantly built up as being important but never actually ends up doing anything worthwhile. I think Dreamwave of all things was the only time he actually had a deeply involved role.

Well, Jetfire was the flying autobot for a while. Wheeljack is pretty iconic imo because of his mad scientist shtick, and he was one of the first autobot shown in the cartoon.

I like scrapper (front loader) and long haul
Constructicons are solid midcarders without devastator by making superweapons and fortresses
Scrapper being a violent architect autist and having hook as his sorta starscream is fun.

Hasbro has largely given up pushing Arcee, or at least as hard as they used to, in favor of Elita-1 despite the fact they keep making her less likeable with each attempt.

At least Arcee is better off than Windblade, who they straight up gave up on trying with.
