Low 7/10. A good, solid start to the series but I'm not super invested. I think the main characters are alright but they aren't anything special imo. The pacing was good for the most part but I feel like some parts are rushed or left too unexplained. We don't get as good of an understanding of the world as I would've wanted. It leaves enough room open for a lot of mysteries to be revealed which I like though. The animation is pretty good for the most part, the designs are okay with some fantastic backgrounds. The ultimate 6/10. Terrible jokes, stiff animation, slow plot filled with tropes you've seen before. But outside the humor, there was nothing that was horrible or offensive about it. The goals of the characters are clear, the world does the essentials, and the art style is very good. It just feels like a perfectly bland indie drama that only stands out if your only source of cartoons is Disney shows. But we live in an age where there's Scavengers Reign, Pantheon, Common Side Effects, Mars Express, and other cool adult sci-fi animations, and this is not to that level in the slightest.
I will say, the call-outs to Disney were not as annoying as I thought they were gonna be, but Dana making a character who's just there to represent the Disney worker who's "totally not a sell out, guys, and you shouldn't shame her" is a level of cope I could not predict.

That was pretty good.
Definitely a solid third place behind Gaslight District and TADC. Visuals were - as typical of Glitch shows - incredibly striking, and the audio design was excellent, but for a show in such a dark and grim setting (a corporate hellscape where everyone's either a rich kid living in megadisneyland, or a wagie in the depths) it was too upbeat. Not that it needs to be depressing at all times, but these characters should have a more rough-and-tumble sense of humor and a more sardonic attitude if they've grown up in an environment like this. Rather than just the literal one-eyed pirate being a hardass, they should've all been a bit more like him.

Feel like this is the type of series that'll do better once it's gotten the initial episode out of the way, ESPECIALLY when the titular character is a corpse for most of the episode.

Do be clear, I don't know anything about the creators of the show, so I don't have to give a shit about bias.

As a former cast member, I get it. I've worked with all these people. I know their feelings and motivations. I know how scary and frustrating it is to work for something so big with so many impossible expectations put on you. I'm not sure this will catch on, it feels more like a vehicle for her to vent but it speaks to some of us.

Dana has amazing taste when it comes to a specific sort of creepy-cool aesthetic and vibe. Those parts of the pilot were awesome to see, however the writing is holding things back a bit. The dynamic between the main characters is a bit worrying too, things feel too bland there.

I was expecting the hook that introduced Guin to be a lot more dramatic and stronger. It felt oddly rushed.

MD's pilot sets up the mystery of what the fuck the disassembly drones are and why they were sent, and questions the reason for the "humans" sending them in the first place (elaborated on in reveals in future episodes, the human stuff is all a lie).

The MD pilot is the weakest episode because it's the lowest budget, was made a full year before the rest of the series went into production, they hadn't really gotten a feel for what the rest of the show was going to be like which is why it feels a little off compared to the rest of the series until it eventually finds its footing. Of course Glitch was slowly growing at this time too, getting more animators and budget which you can see as MD progresses.

Remember that Murder Drones was Glitch's first cartoon series using their current production style of bringing in an outside creator to be the showrunner, and is the beginning of Glitch's huge scale increase of the quality of its shows. The MD pilot was early steps and now they've got multiple series up doing it this way.
I just hope that their newer shows like Gaslight District and Knights Of Guinivere can live up in the long run to Murder Drones and Amazing Digital Circus. It's one thing to compare pilots, especially the super early MD pilot, but we have to see how the actual series stack up.

Glitch was too enthusiastic about having a Disney showrunner that they just let her do whatever with no input.
Compared to Liam, Seagull and Gooseworx having some notoriety, but not enough that Glitch wouldn't have some things to say about it, making their collaborations end up with the best products.
Fun fact: Digital Circus only exists because Goose wanted to pitch something for Glitch, but they said "we only do 3D cartoons", so she was forced to come up with a 3D idea. It also doesn’t feel like either a broad introduction to the world and characters, or a story with a beginning, middle and end, between the limited scope and the cliffhanger it sits sort of in the middle. The corporate commentary would have probably hit harder if they explained what exactly they are doing other than general evil corporation thing. We don't really know how they took over the town and the rest of the galaxy other than "rich evil company".
That being said I think they can save this if Dana reveals the corporate stuff is just an excuse to have a villain and a context for the plot, and that the story is more about the characters than corporate satire. In that case, while I still find it lazy that they are vague of what exactly the company is doing (Disney is not doing movies, parks, and also NASA-level space travelling, and if this week proves anything is they control the world less than they believe they do ) at least I can sweep it under the rug as not the actual point of the series.

Well that was bad. And I think the reason its so terrible is the blatant uninspired concept. Did anyone else really hate the swearing? Maybe its because of Amazing Digital Circus toning down the swearing but hearing so much excessive swearing really annoyed me in this pilot. Reminds me of Netflix Castlevania with the excess swearing.

Nothing about the concept was actually good. Didn't care about Ande and Frankie. Doesn't help that the first thing they show both of these bitches do is illegally enter the park to attempt to steal merchandise so they're not sympathetic characters as early as their childhoods and it doesn't help that they are still going around casually stealing things when they're adults. Don't care for the Corporations Are Evil narrative because we've all heard it before and nothing has changed.

And one bit of wasted potential this pilot already threw away is making Olivia an aged wrinkled old hag who is so old she's dependent on machines keeping her alive. Olivia being an adult around Ande and Frankie's age would have been good but she's actually like sixty years older than them so she's an old bed ridden invalid. So that's a waste.

The only interesting thing about the show so far is Gwen somehow knowing Ande and Frankie's names. They sneaked into the park so they could not be identified by anyone as they were not customers so how does this robot know the names of people who don't have their Disney Ticket sort of speak? Is Gwen wired into a larger system beyond the park?

I don't think this series is going to be successful. Its just too stagnant. Been there, done that. Anyone else hoping this fails? Been an hour since the premiere and it has not hit a million views which for darling studio Glitch? That's bad. And usually the pilot is the biggest ratings grab. So I don't think audiences are buying into this series. So far it seems to be slightly more popular than Gaslight District but that's not saying much. Anyway hope it fails.
