Nooo you see according to Alex Hirsch that style has akshally gone away and his stiff writer driven cartoons wil towtally save animation

I have a couple of questions about Hirsch: Firstly how hard did he fuck himself by refusing to make more Gravity Falls for Disney? Secondly, how come Disney even let him refuse? Surely they could have just continued without him like a lot of shows continue after their creators cease active involvement (Matt Groening, Pen Ward, any of the multiple sex pests) or did he get some unusual deal where he had the rights rather than Disney? Lastly if that is the case, how'd he manage to swing that?

Alex Hirsch is hands down the worst person to come from the Flapjack Family Tree

Matt Braly is starting to become pretty faggy too

What happened to cartoonists as a whole? They used to establish actual careers, now they make one thing and disappear

He still makes Gravity Falls content, an official book licensed by Disney came out last year. He didn't really stop of his own volition though, the end of the show was cut short and rushed by Disney themselves despite its popularity. I'm a bit surprised it never got a revival akin to Phineas and Ferb considering how much today's kids love the paranormal though.

Either way he seems to have a good enough relationship with them akin to Braly though. Good enough to make new content every few years.

TV animation died and after the very early Netflix animation boom at the start of the streaming wars, there's been absolutely zero reason for a network to invest in animation more than the bare minimum amount now because they only get a flat rate from subscribers.

Amazon Prime with Vivziepop is sadly the actual closest thing we have now to an old-school network/creative relationship.

That's not how I heard it, I thought Disney wanted the show to continue but Hirsch said he would only do season 2 and no more.

10 years used to be a long time in animation, but thanks to technology making everything slower instead of faster, that's just 3 8-episode seasons instead of an entire era.

Technology isn't making anything slower, that's studios and budgetary bullshit born from streaming. Dripfeeding small amounts of content over an astronomical amount of time is better for retaining subscribers than dumping a shit ton of content at once.

He had that pitch with the green detective and pink boy but that never got a pilot

You know shits bad when even Genndy, Craig, JG Quintel got their own shows a few years after their originals ended.

Alex did get a show. He's just taking a decade to develop it.
