Thanks OP, I enjoyed that. I'm glad to see something come of this idea even if it is a bit late to ride on the popularity of the short. I'd buy a copy but it's already out of stock in my country's Amazon, hopefully that's a sign it's selling better than expected. Hope it continues.

I really liked the art, while it's relatively simple it obviously had a lot of work put into it and is very soulful imo. Would have been nice to see official colors for Swan, we get told that her hair is pink but nothing else.

Just finished, not what I'd expect based solely on the short, but I enjoyed it plenty anyways!
Tbdesu I'd guiltily been in a Harry Potter mood recently (after avoiding it like the plague ever since i turned 13 lmao), and this story about trying to get into a magic school satisfied that craving hmm i dunno i wonder why.
While a lil on the nose, I do appreciate that it's pretty allegorical to applying to an art school. I'd studied at one for a year myself, so I found their worries pretty relatable. Others might probably criticize it for that, saying "ohhh art students only know one thing and its their own lives" but that's crab talk imo. If anything, rooting it in something real gives it an interesting angle that something like HP doesn't quite have.
That, and honestly? I really do like the more frank/normal depiction of Claire and Edgar. They were very sweet.

Anyway, Petal (the frog girl) was the best character, I hope we get plenty of cute fanart of her :)
Death was the second-best. He always rules in any media he's used in, and this was no exception.

The short came out 7 years ago, but Elyse would have been working on that like a decade ago. I think her writing style and sense of taste has changed a lot since then.
She's been releasing comics on her instagram ever since. It's been kind of fun to see her style change over time.

The Summoning doesn't have much of an audience on /co/. I personally like it, but anons are mostly interested in cooming to the not-cat-girl and that's it. It doesn't help that most of the threads are started by an autist who finds repetition soothing so it's always the same pictures and same sequence of comments which can get tiresome.

Thanks for the storytime, I didn't know what to expecting when I started to read but it was quite fun, it toes pretty well between cute and what a kid would think as cool (sharp shapes with cartoonish faces, I guess?), I really liked the mother and the other witches, lowkey my idea of Claire was more like the NegaClaire fue to watching her mostly on fanarts where she always looks grumpy, I really hope they keep making more comics from this universe, I really liked the getting as is presented, and I hope they rescue the driad

I can totally see how that would happen. If you looked at nothing but fan art you might think Claire was the second coming of Dylan Beekler but in the official short the whole joke is that she looks scary and like she's doing something malevolent, but actually isn't. She's more of an actual goth girl than evil. I wouldn't even be surprised if that's why NegaClaire was included in the comic as a bit of a shoutout to this fanon Claire.

It’s comedy fantasy, so it’s far from serious but the characters, plots and world building are actually very good. You’ll see people quoting memorable lines a lot but it’s not like that’s all there is to it. Pratchett is an excellent writer imo.

I'd scraped most of it. I could have sworn I made a cbz of her comics she posted on there, but all I can find in my archives is her pitch board and the storyboards for the pilot. If the thread is still alive later, I can make one, but I'll have to go through the folder of all the other pics of stuff she's posted. A lot of the earlier stuff is tattoo designs (she used to be a tattoo artist) and photos from events and stuff.
