I'm glad Chris finally realized he's the problem and that everything bad that ever happens is his fault.

Auggie has been calling it out since season 1, Chris finally understanding that he was just born bad is truly a full circle moment.

I get what Gunn was going for if the final episode is supposed to be the epilogue but this season could have been like six episodes and the eps themselves should have been 60 minutes.

>The series, which is based on a pitch from George R. R. Martin, follows a world where various supervillains are captured by the Suicide Squad and imprisoned on a distant planet. The story features the villains splitting into alliances and either attempting to escape the planet, known as "Salvation", or choosing to rule over it. Bill Willingham started as writer, but had to hand the project over to Lilah Sturges after only three issues due to illness

>Mr. Terrific finds out about this tactic and tells Superman
>"Superman! Rick Flag has gone crazy! He's working with Luthor in secret to make a world prison to trap Superhumans there!"
There, done, no need to watch 8 episodes of a show completely unrelated to Superman for the most part. You can explain Peacemaker being there as easily as him saying
>"Yeah that dickhead Rick Flag trapped me here. Probably cuz I killed his son or some shit, I dunno he's a pusssy"
You are now caught up with Peacemaker S2 as far as what matters to the overall DCEU. Just two lines of dialogue, that easy.

That being said I don't understand what that has to do with the title "Man of Tomorrow". I assumed its a symbolic title that's meant to be Lex and Superman clashing to see who will be the figure that inspires the future. Obviously the bald mank Lex wants to be that man, while Superman doesn't care about it, but will be that man of the future. I don't think Superman breaking free metahumans from a parallel dimension has anything to do with "Tomorrow"

Gunn's version is that five episodes in he realized the actor wasn't living up to what he had in mind for Vigilante, made the hard choice to fire him, and feels he really lucked out by finding Stroma who was more in tune with what the character needed. They had to reshoot scenes with him, but others with Vig in full suit they just used what they'd filmed already and had Stroma dub over it. The premise still doesn't work because there's not enough established meta humans to use & even less villains. They'd have to completely handwave it saying there's more metahumans we just never saw.

The problem with Gunn is that he might write like character drama pretty well, but he's so fucking traumatized by GOTG2 with that Adam Warlock cameo and his "no returns" rule that it basically made this season feel like really out of his touch, and screwed most things over.
I really like the character progression of Chris, even if this season he was only "muh hurcourt", he was pretty good in the scenes where he saw his family and shit, also Cena really sells it.
The stuff with Ads and her wife was a bit meh, I like the talk but I completely forgot about her wife being a plot point at the start of the season.

Of course this means this board will be filled with bots calling it the worst thing ever and Gunn Is Done or whatever, I'm so tired of you people.

Lex Luthor and some of the other super genius mad scientist characters teamed up to built a portal device. I actually thought the weakest parts were all the shots where they're laughing and walking like it's an insurance ad, or the foxy shazam concert that went on for way too fucking long. The cliffhanger sucked but at least it was something that advanced the plot, even though it was out of the blue and shoehorned in, maybe if they didn't waste so much time on those shots, they could've added in some scenes of Flag Sr. planning to send Chris to the prison world instead.

No, I thought the same as well. I thought Victor Frankenstein would be the DCU's version of Ultra-Humanite. After getting mutilated by Eric he manages to survive but critically wounded so he transplanted his brain in a different body with the help of someone (idk who but insert villain to clap at). He eventually transplanted his mind in the albino gorilla. He then meets Grodd at some point and devised a plan to get some sort of kingdom to rule and develop an army. They chose Pokolistan because that's where he's from. The orphan we see in Weasels flashback survives but Ultra-Humanite takes her body. Why he chose a younger body is so Grodd could mind-control the royal family into believing they had a younger daughter.

No one would hate the "homework" if all these shows weren't hot garbage. The Penguin wasn't considered homework because it was a good show and now people want to see Oswald get his ass kicked in The Batman 2.

What does Peacemaker do for Man of Tomorrow? Do I want to see the 11th street kids have shitty banter with Superman? No.

the music is really overbearing this episode. way too much

Ads speaking with her wife. The intervention between chris & friends. Neither of these stirred me, very little sense of real emotional weight.

referring to themselves as the '11th street kids' needs to stop. The constant forced lines reminding the audience "We're the 11th street kids!" is way too corny and it harms any real sense of 'found family' the characters may have.

bordeaux joining the team feels rushed

needed more dimension antics this season. just as we started to really sink our teeth into it we're pulled away.
eager to see what chris gets up to on Salvation. Maybe there's a civilization?

horribly weak final episode. the concert scenes were hot garbage

weirdly, on the topic of The Flash and Salvation Run, it's a bit odd Gunn has never seemed to care much about The Rogues. those guys feel like they'd be right up Gunn's alley. a group of misfit assholes and criminals that still have a heart of gold and aren't complete monsters? not to mention they have a strong bond with each other and treat each other like family? feels like it'd be perfect for him, and yet he doesn't seem to give a shit about them

Guardians trilogy never had a bad needle drop, period. Superman basically had none, and CC at least had a Eastern European theme with theirs, even though they still turned a lot of scenes into cheesy music video snippets.
Peacemaker is without a doubt the worst with handling needle drops. This season was the worst "James Gunn showing off his obscure dad rock playlist" of all, but it's not like season one's needle drops weren't hit-or-miss too.

Also, Foxy Shazam fucks.

I thought S1 was some of his best. Going hard on the glam metal because it's the music that Chris likes was great way of getting in the character's head.
My only big complaint was that Hardline got shafted, and this song only pops up for a few seconds on a radio in the background of one scene.

The issue is that generic tough in a vaguely classical western derived way, hero guy isn't appealing anymore, and Hal is to serious of a character to fill headstrong idiot role thanks to via secondary characteristics (of which Guy does a better job of filling anyway).
Kyle is the Creative one
John is the Stoic one
Guy is the Dumb Prick sometimes with a heart of gold
And so on..
Which just leaves Hal as the Tough one and Tough isn't enough to lead in a superhero franchise unless they go full Eastwood with him (which would rock but they never will).
If Hal isn't an audiences first Focus Lantern than his purpose is superseded by the others.

>Salvation is a training ground for New Gods of Apokolips and where the Forager bugs hang out.
I guess the most logical route for DCU is as follows then:

1. Rise of metahumans causes a need for stronger methods of confinement (Superman, Peacemaker Season 2)
2. Glowies dump dangerous metahumans to Salvation
3. The forces of Darkseid take notice of Earth because of their fuckery
4. ????
5. Profit

This might also redeem the retarded solo Clayface movie. I guess he is going to be one of the people we follow in the inevitable Salvation Run movie (Man of Tomorrow?) and not just a teaser for Batman.

Honestly, that version is the only GOOD and worthwhile Peacemaker, from a comicbook reader standpoint, IMHO, since the Charlton version, by and large, doesn't even have that wink/nod silver age charm that the Charlton Blue Beetle, Captain Atom or the Question can often portray.

Because Gunn said so?
Because DC wants that same compulsion and out of character OCD autism that drove normies to even re-watch shit like Agents of Shield, every Antman, before they could watch IE and Endgame. It's another reason why Quantamania, The Marvels, and everything else bombed badly - because the spell was broken and normies realized that they didn't have to pay for or sit through garbage for some imagined pay off at the end.

Contracts don't mean anything. Especially for someone like Kyle Chandler. He's been working non-stop for almost two decades now. He and his agent would know how to fit in another appearance or even another entire series (and it's not like we'd be talking 20+ episode commitments to a series).

>WW84,
Most people aren't really aware of WW84 so it won't impact the character. Superman 2025 was hurt by the DCEU failure in foreign markets but MOT should do far better, once the movie has been streamed legally and pirated.

When they release those 'most torrented' lists of 2025 at the end of this year, if Superman isn't top three, or at least the top cape, then you can imagine the DCU is not going far at the level they wanted it to for supporting the money Gunn is paying himself and spending. Watch if they cut budgets more like Clayface was cut. Especially on something like Supergirl that needed a lot of CGI to work for King's shitty story.
