May being happy dying doesn't change the fact that, indirectly, in a small way, he killed her.
Characters do deals with the devil- literally and figuratively- constantly. And Mephisto isn't even the devil.
I'm fine with out of universe reasons for hating OMD. It's a shitty book by a wildly overrated author. You don't like why they did it, good for you. They weren't mad that he was married, they thought it was, long term, bad for business.
You will, predictably, say that they were wrong and it killed the book, but it didn't, sales for everything started petering (ha) off in 2008, etc. They have more and better data than you; if it was half as poisonous to sales as you all seem to believe there's no chance in hell Axel Alonso would have ended up EIC. (And he shouldn't have; he should have been fired for being asleep at the wheel on Sins Past)
You don't know how to use objectively correctly and the character does seem to function as a character.
You do misunderstand the quote.
The quote is that when people aren't angry, sales are soft.
That does not correlate to "we make books specifically to piss people off". A rational reading of that quote is "if we aren't pissing off *some* people, then we are playing it too safe, and when we play it safe it gives people permission to check out and sales go down."
This has led to a mass delusion of persecution by a gaggle of mouth breathing retards who make it a life mission to ruin all discussion of spider -man anywhere forever unless they get their way, where they imagine Marvel editorial as this insane, handwringing cabal of supervillains out to punish the true fans and not a bunch of fans working as niche publishers to make the rent.
>Fans, they can't be fans they disagree with me that means they hate everything
Not how it works. Didio was absolutely a fan of comics. I hated pretty much every decision he made and everything he loved best, but he was a fan through and through.
