Opening Scene Concept:
It's been a few weeks since the "No Time to Spy" incident. Lincoln is back to his routine, but with a new swagger. X, however, can't shake what she witnessed. Her agency monitors him, not as a threat, but as an anomaly.
Let's write an opening where X is observing Lincoln remotely, trying to rationalize his "luck," but finding herself more and more captivated.
(START FANFIC EXCERPT)
The screen in X’s subterranean office glowed with the familiar, if slightly grainy, feed of the Loud residence in Royal Woods. Not a global threat assessment, not a rogue agent tracking, just… Lincoln Loud. Playing hacky sack with his sisters, who were simultaneously arguing over a half-eaten bag of chips.
“Still no explanation, Agent 0?” Her second-in-command, a stiff woman named Agent Y, asked from behind her, holding a tablet. "The data still indicates a 0.003% chance of successful independent extraction from a Class-3 orbital incident."
X’s fingers tapped a rhythmic beat on the polished steel of her console. “The data,” she said, her voice a low growl that still managed to make Agent Y flinch, “is clearly insufficient.”
She zoomed in on Lincoln, whose white hair seemed to glow even through the surveillance feed. The boy was agile, dodging a rogue frisbee from Lynn and simultaneously intercepting a whispered insult from Lola to Lana. He even managed to snag the hacky sack with a well-timed, almost involuntary kick while preventing Lily from face-planting into a puddle.
"He shouldn't have survived that rocket, Y. Logistically, empirically, scientifically… he should be vaporized space dust."
“His Gran-Gran, Agent 28, did pilot the rescue vehicle, sir,” Y offered cautiously.
