I actually thought the animation for Deku vs. Maka was good. I know a lot of people had problems with it, but I thought it was great.

Even if you disagree about Deku losing, given the power gap between the two it makes sense for Maka to take little damage. It also puts Soul in some kind of a mentor or elder role to Deku, and let Soul show how far he had come by defeating someone who had been down the opposite path as him. He wasn't just fighting Deku, he was TEACHING Deku. And I think that's very heartwarming in a way. That Soul would take the lessons he learned and help someone who was not like him.

If this weren't a Death Battle I'm sure they would have ended cordially and taught Deku well. The alternate ending is weird, even if heartwarming in its own way. It was nice to see Soul go on a Date with Maka, but it feels weird to have him just get bored and leave the fight

I haven't watched Boku no Hero Academia though (but after watching this fight I think I might look for a summary on YT!) so I might be missing stuff but as a big Soul Eater fan I thought they did Maka and Soul justice and from what I saw they treated Deku with the utmost respect. What character has ever gotten an alternate ending made just for them?
