Season 10-15 > Season 1-3. Someone had to say it.
S1-3 are funny, but aren't animated very expressively. Less so for 1, some episodes look fantastic while others look meh at worst, but 2 and 3 generally look mediocre, like their budget got slashed or there were growing pains when switching to digital colouring. Meanwhile, 10-15 are both funny and beautifully animated through-and-through, literally the best of both worlds.
I love both eras, don't get me wrong, and I appreciate the "golden" era for what its worth. But the newest episodes are objectively better.

OP has a point about the animation, it’s probably the least of my concerns with NuBob as it’s like the one cartoon these days to let artists do what they want rather than it being calarts shit. I’m also pretty sure if the OG seasons were made now they’d be animated like the Nuseasons seeing Hillenburg himself approved and pushed for the shows wackier animation before his passing, not to mention he was also a Ren & Stimpy fan and has worked on Rocko, both shows are known for being wacky.
But to say the writing is better than the golden age seasons? That’s a fucking cope, seasons 10-11 were fun but not even they were golden age quality, the shows writing sucks these days, it’s the definition of all style, no substance

This is why no TV show should go on for more than a handful of seasons. The style and quality of a TV show are always going to change over time, and unfortunately it is always fair to compare a TV show to itself.
Newer SpongeBob seasons would probably be received fine if not well, but theyre always going to be (rightfully) compared to the first few seasons which are nostalgic for a lot of people. Not to mentioned being objectively better animated and written.

OP is a faggot but I always found the complaints about the "wacky faces" to be dumb. The problem with modern SpongeBob isn’t the animation, it’s the fact that the stories and writing are garbage. Shows like those Mickey shorts have expressions and animation on the same level but nobody bitches and whines about those cause they’re actually funny. It’s not like the first three seasons and the movie didn’t have tons of wacky faces either.
