Dave the Barbarian
Is it actually a funny show, or do people just pretend it is while posting the same squirrel-megaphone screenshot over and over again?

It was the least Disney-ish of all the shows to have cone on Disney. It looked and felt more like a Nicktoon.

"Where did the money come from? Where did it go?" perfectly sums up today's economy.

The one with the check? I remember someone asking how check payments work and getting a total non-answer

>>150804966
Yes, that episode is called "Web" if the web search is to be believed.
They owe some guy money, the pig owes them money, someone else owes the pig money, and the debt collector owes that someone else money.
So they force the debt collector to write a check and it gets passed all the way around back to him, meaning the loop of debts is resolved, but no one has any more money than when they started.

That's how companies do business right now in this economy, especially AI companies. If you were an individual that wouldn't work because the money would be taxed each time it changes hands, but there's not fucking rules anymore for big tech apparently.

It's a 7/10 show that could have been 9/10 if it wasn't on Disney.

I'd always heard that it got high ratings and only got canned because Disney'd focus became live-action. Do you have a source for that post?

It had initial good ratings, but feel off as it was moved to the worst possible time slot available, 04 AM.
Wether is was moved because of dropping ratings, or the ratings dropped because it was moved, is hard to tell.

Not making a statement about the economy, but that was genuinely an eye-opener about how currency works to me when I was a kid. There's literally nothing that could prevent that kind of situation from happening IRL, you could just pass around a check for X dollars and if everyone owed each other that amount and it landed back on your lap, the debts would all be "resolved" without any real change in wealth whatsoever.

OpenAI plans to spend 300 BILLION dollars over the next five years on Oracle to build their data centers for them. OpenAI is getting this investment money from Nvidia, at least 100 billion a year. Oracle is spending this money on chips made by Nvidia, at least 40 billion dollars worth of GPUs.

So Nvidia is paying OpenAI so they can pay Oracale so Oracale can buy Nvidia's chips. Where does the money come from? Where does the money go? This is just a loop to make tech companies look more promising than they actually are. This is the same thing that Cisco did during the 1990s leading up to the dot com crash.

And Oracle is likely only getting this deal because they've scored the tiktoc US acquisition contract, giving them access to the algorithm and sensitive user data.

It's why their stonks are TOO THE MOON right now despite not making any phenomenal profits.

And it gets dumber. OpenAI is also buying GPUs from AMD which they don't have the money for (70 billion) so instead they get a 10% stake in AMD through their stocks. The deal is announced publicly which causes AMD's stocks to shoot up, meaning the 34B of stock that OpenAI got from AMD is now worth the 70B they need which they can just sell and have the money for the order. AMD is partnering with Intel which the US government has a 10% stake in, so this is how this is being allowed to happen, because the government also gets its beak wet. OpenAI's deals now add up to 1 TRILLION dollars that they have promised to various tech companies with money they do not have. Their entire business model hinges on market hype for AI.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Dave the Barbarian was probably already cancelled internally before the first episode of Brandy and Mr. Whiskers even premiered. Television executives are keen to sniff out failure and abandon ship if ratings are not immediately promising, especially with Disney during this era where the animated shows were just filler until the live-action shows - the real moneymakers - aired.

Tale as old as time, Disney has a nasty habit of sabotaging their shows by moving them around so kids can't find them.

There was an extensive period of time in the 2010s where Disney would move ALL of their cartoon shows exclusively to XD, where ratings suffered across the board. Only Gravity Falls and Star Vs survived the transition, while shows like Wander Over Yonder died on the vine despite having exceptionally good ratings while it was on the main Disney Channel.

Moving to Disney XD wasn't a bad concept, but they were stupid to not move XD to basic cable, if they wanted it to attract boys and shit.

I remember as a kid a lot of people thought it was interesting and funny but just couldn't vibe with the meta/subversive element and wanted a more straightforward story. It might've done better on Nickelodeon or even better if it was slightly more adult and shown on Adult Swim.

If the U.S.A. outlawed usury (basically interest on debt) they could just write off all their debt because the initial amount "borrowed" has already been paid back and all the rest that's owed is all interest.

Kim Possible was like their top show while it was running, like it was rivaling Hannah Montana. Disney literally ordered an entire extra season because the TV movie did so well, despite that originally being planned as the finale.
