Should I give up on my goal of having an animated series? It's all starting to look bleak now. Even an indie series seems out of reach as I dont have the money

If you really care, you have no choice. that's the thing about art, good or bad, successful or not, there's just that urge to create and if you don't you feel less for it. If you don't try you're still doomed to feel the same regret as if you'd simply failed.

I suppose you try to make a webcomic. I mean getting popular might be pretty slim but would you have your ideas just in your head or have them in some kind of media where you can work them out?

This, a webcomic would probably be a better idea. Problem would be reaching out to readers esp if you don't already have a following. Not sure how'd you go about advertising your series.

I believe times have changed, and structurally 30-11 minute long form pilots are not really good on the Youtube platform. I theorize that the best way to produce a show is to return to Looney Tunes/ Hanna-Barbera shorts so if your still going forward I recommend to make 6-2 minute shorts. It would allow you to create a batch of content to release weekly as seasons to entice the algorithm for a short time. Good examples would be the australian short Day Job by Paul Georghiou, and Haha You Clowns by Joe Cappa. Again I would like to make a pilot and stories myself, but animation is time consuming with prople making Pilot in 3 Years time wont gather an audience.

Having an actual animated series that isn't indie well that time has passed unless you're a generational talent with industry connections, the good news is nothing is stopping you from making an indie cartoon, if you want it made it will get made

There’s nothing stopping you from creating, i still write and draw my stories but i just lost the desire to share them with anyone, is my own little world for my own enjoyment, i just feel like normalfags have become way too retarded and their love for AI shit just proves to me that they have no soul and just seek shit to consume and argue

I’ve seen stories that feel 10 times more beautiful than anything i’ve ever made get turned into fuel for culture war, i have a comfortable life that gives me enough free time to draw and write stuff, i don’t want that to be ruined, is probably one of the few things that keep me sane in this absurd world

https://createandgo.com/video-editing-software
https://www.techradar.com/best/free-video-editing-software

Spend some MONTHS making something for free, then post it EVERYWHERE online.
On every video service, and social media.

x/twitter, youtube, and every other site.
Do you need a list of those sites too?

Then if you can get views, you can ask those people to donate to a paytron or something.

And get money to make more. But Have to at least show you are capable of something first.

Depends on what your idea is. Basically your only option is to make a name for your self, if you're not on twitter you're already failing. Make a bunch of 30 second to 60 second animations showing of your character, put em on youtube. Follow up the animations with comic strips that expand on them. If you have an ensemble cast, the first 4 or 5 animations should be character introductions, though don't be blatant about it, just give us a glimpse of their personality and end it in a way that makes us want to learn more.
You can also try motion comics, but that's a much more intensive endeavor, and you probably have to pay voice actors out of pocket.
Of course, the shitty thing about all this is, you will either have to wagie and give up every ounce of social life and free time to make this happen, or neet it up and be a parasite or just draws and plays vidys all day
Also don't make your characters ugly like Zuerel

Actually, narrated voice over Manga and mangua is very popular right now.
And if you look at older anime and even films static shots static backgrounds with some movement is how things were done.

>My goal

the reality is people who talk a lot about what they want to make usually just daydream a lot about something without making any real tangible progress even as practice.

You either are making something or you're not. There really is no inbetween. And you gotta stop putting the people who make stuff up on a pedestal because people make stuff all the time and a lot of it is shit. Its a cool thing to do, but making art isn't a replacement for a fulfilling life or personality either.

if you actually cared / had any good ideas or had anything to say that was at all interesting or funny...you would be trying to do so rather than posting on 4chan.

something you'll notice about all these indie "creators" is that they actually spend a lot of time working on shit, not just talking about it or fixating on hypothetical future success and or failure.

I think that view is very pessimistic. There's lots of creative people on 4chan, especially /co/, they just aren't able to do anything with their creativity aside from sharing it with others and drawing images, and there are people who need an encouragement boost to share drawings and even to start drawing in the first place.

Only thing is that I have grown horribly envious of successful creators to the point where I now just want them all to fail. If I can't make a living animating then I don't want anyone else to either. Every industry animator and indiefags should be forced to work retail like I have to

Make a webcomic/novel first to get the founding and test if people actually give a fuck about it.
Anonymous No.150829498 [Report]
>>150817082 (OP)
For me I'm making a limited animatic series. It lets me tell the story I want in the way I want without needing to hire others. You can try that and if people like your premise, maybe you can get the funding for a series or something more polished.

A lot of these bigger indie creators started at smaller things, then proved their brand or story concept through that. People like Viv or Tracy Butler had their comics. Goose had her shorts, same with Zeurel, Flashgitz, Speedo.

Imo wanting to start right away at an animated series is too ambitious if you're not an industryfag with lots of connections and experience. A better approach might be to ask yourself what types of stories or concepts you want to show, and to pick the medium/approach that best suits you right now.

Not OP, but I have realized I'm like that. I daydream, for hours and hours. Of the many things I'd want to make, the worlds that I've been building in my mind. But any actual foray I've had with realizing or just working on any artistic skills doesn't lead anywhere, and each time felt excruciating.
Yet, I still spend so much time daydreaming, holding on to that illusion.
I've also put those who manage it on a pedestal. Just projecting, probably since I idealize how I'd be.
I know this. I know I'm more likely content with just dreaming than being able to do it, but I still see myself. That I'll get that engine starting properly once
