there's been an active effort by some furries to try and make being a furry look cool, namely by pushing the whole "furries are actually wealthy heart surgeons and scientists and are responsible for 90% of everything and if you consumed any piece of media with one in you are a furry too".
that, coupled with a lot of people right now obsessing with wanting to belong to a "group" or a "label" you have a lot of people wanting to be considered "a furry" and buying anything labeled "furry", which of course is being exploited for money.
this isnt to say talented furries dont exist, but like with everyone they are just the top 1%, just like with any other group of people, its just people seeing their achievements as their own because they wear the same "label". its like a British guy acting like a top chef because Gordon Ramsey is british
