It was just a one off episode experiment. Making a full anthology is a lot harder than sticking with one character you can put in many situations.

I think we can have both. We can get another anthological episode about Primal Theory. With Zombie Spear, we can get one on primeval superstition, and old gods stuff.

This episode was explaining how stressful circumstances can turn someone feral for survival and the one who is more willing to survive will often be the victor.

We give a fuck about spear. Not random characters disconnected from the story, not his daughter and not Meera. Hopefully we get some mindless zombie kino before they inevitably show up. Hoping it’s a city of the dead perspective where we see a zombie spear amongst a horde of undead that got revived for an ep or before he goes solo.

Genndy specifically name dropped Soloman Kane in the announcement interview so I wouldn't give up hope on the anthology concept.

I wouldn't mind if they had alternated episodes between Spear and Fang and some one offs. Maybe make each episode 11 minutes and the first half is one and the second the other.

Would be easier to call primal an experimental anthology.

she was a main character in season 1, she became a pet in season 2. she was not a main character in season 2, she was hardly a partner. season 2 was a butchery of everything that made season 1 good. fang becomes an obstacle, spear starts talking, episode bosses were worse and there were less of them, 1 long ass story instead of each episode being it's own epic story. season 2 sucks.

shit story, every plot progression is forced and poorly written. they leave fang's nesting spot before her eggs hatch for no reason and that's what puts them in the seagypt chains, big nigga chooses to betray bitch pharoh at the worst time for him but it just works out.

there's more, but i'm not willing to rewatch that shit again.

shit style. every episode of season 1 (except for the last) had a build up of tension and topped off with a grand finale against whatever the issue was for the episode. season 2 gave us 1, the shark. after that, everyhting had to be stretched out for multiple episode and each conclusion was flaccid (spear or fang aren't even the ones that kill seagypt queen, a hand just takes flame viking)

ruined characters. spear starts talking, fang becomes a mascot. nothing more need to be said

I was hoping the new season would leave Spear and Fang alone simply because Genndy always drops the ball when the story and characters grow beyond a certain level of complexity. I wasn't necessarily hoping for an anthology either, but self-contained episodic stories are his strength and he needs to keep as close to that format as possible.
