They do look identical and are becoming slop nowadays, but honestly imo anime style always elevates every fictional character a bit unless the og style is so unique and memorable that the change doesnt do much. Like Spongebob or Smiling Friends for example, their styles are great and memorable while something like TADC or Adventure Time would look better as anime imo.

Yeah im not denying that, but anime is also quite uniform and has had key aspects since very beggining. Also its just a fact most western cartoon characters, especially girls translate incredibly well into anime. Like the Simpsons Death Note parody, imagine if Simpsons was a slice of life anime with style from that parody short. Would take it anyday over the og show. Adventure Time worked well in early seasons because it embraced being goofy and for boys, later it became gayass loreslop with leftist californian ideas.

Spongebob is such a fucking classic, its atmosphere and direction cannot be topped, first 3 seasons and the movie, although i also like season 4 and 5, couple of good episodes in 6 too, but it depends also on the dubbing. Serbian dubbing was really good so it was bearable until season 8, later they changed the voice actors and it was ruined forever.

Neither is really good. They don't convey the characters well, Marge doesn't look eccentric and weird enough, she's not just a meek, boring wife, she should be a bit unhinged and neurotic. And Nicole doesn't look like a middled aged, overworked mom with anger issues, she looks young and spunky. A hairstyle change for something less anime friendly would go a long way.
