How come comics aren't having a big indie revolution like animation is right now?

Comics are niche and not readily adaptable for the smartphone and social media age like animation is. I know webtoons is pretty big but I don't know how well it's doing these days compared to when it first blew up in popularity.

Wasnt there a big comics indie flash a couple years ago?

Because all the people they hire to write them are gay retards.

There also aren't a lot of good areas to advertise indie comics. The creators I've seen for them gotta try their ass off with advertising on ten different sites. There's also the sad fact that people's yearning for exploration of new content is very fucking low unless the algorithm shows them it. Word of mouth used to be a common thing to spread an indie/webcomic but getting people to chat about it is like pulling teeth unless you've got high follow contacts to back you up.

Most social media are a crap shoot unless you're making meme edits of your stuff. Instagram/Tiktok is a no-go unless you've got or know someone with editing skills to voice or animate your panels.

You ever looked through subreddits marked comics? They're usually just creators advertising their books which is one of the worse environments to gain readers, other creators typically aren't gonna be your audience. A casual place to find regular readers is hard as all fuck for comics currently cause you've got three camps:

-Big Two only readers where nothing else exists in comics to them

-Culture War fags who are only interested if you're controversial in some way or form

-Standard comics readers who try anything which is becoming a harder breed to reach

Because it's for nerds. It's much more socially acceptable to read manga.

I've always kind of felt like the main thing holding indie/webcomics back is that nobody seems to have figured out how to consistently break into the videosphere, at least that's just to my knowledge

I'm seeing more and more comics getting dubbed and turned into videos.

I feel like a bit of absolute batman's success is in part because of youtube shorts where they just show bits of it out of context to zoomers and go "dude this is craaaaazy"

The death of local comic shops and small press shows decimated boots on the ground promotion too, it’s harder for indie artists to find the people who might buy or shelve your comic offline

Comics had their big indie revolution in the 90's, just in time for the industry to crash and burn taking all the small publishers down.

People fear becoming another Hussie when the animated webcomic format is right there for the taking

Has no one ever put up an ad like
>were hiring crestives. We are not gay retard friendly.

Web comics were the indie wave benefiting from internet publishing.
