Oh man, are you me? lol. I basically learned how to get along with people by just copying mannerisms and speech patterns, to the point that I can now effortlessly fit in with anyone. It turns out people get REALLY fucking comfortable with you when you just mirror their own friendly behavior back at them. It's so fucking obvious that you'd think they'd catch onto it, but instead they just keep opening up more and more because they feel safe when they don't detect any dissident attitudes from you.
The downside of it is that, to some extent, it feels like I've forgotten who I actually am. There are very few people in the world I feel safe being "myself" around, because I'm super fucking weird and people get bothered by me. Heck, my own parents were bothered by me—they were basically the first people I learned to appease by putting on an act.

I think there's a good argument to be made that even a non-autist would do that by virtue of being a horny teenager, which Daria was—she was just afraid to show it.
