Johnny just shows up to Hotel Transylvania and he's like "whelp here I am! I'm going to marry your daughter and make a baby!" I don't remember anything that he really did to deserve Mavis. He reminds me of those stoner hippie types in life who have rich parents who constantly bail them out. I barely remember anything he did in the first 3 Hotel Transylvania movies.

I mean he does things to look cool, Mavis is used to just hanging around old geezers way past their prime and annoying kids, not really anyone of her age and that attracts her. But besides that all he does to try to convince Drac to let him be with Mavis is fuck around with some flying tables and even then he fucks off once its revealed he's not a monster and him pretending to be a monster was part of Drac's plan so he could keep Johnny around to organize the birthday party and then kick him out once it was all over.
Its strange, the relationship between him and Mavis is supposed to be a key plotline for the movie's development but it really has no focus at all, its started, then left on the freezer, taken out and solved inmediately as soon as Drac catches Johnny's plane and tells him he gives Johnny his consent to bang his daughter.

Someone on the writing team forgot to bring up that maybe the entire movie shouldnt just be visual slapstick with sides of plot here and there, that there's supposed to be a concrete story in all of it.

Hotel Transylvania 1 really isn't a very good movie. It's little more than a bunch of monster jokes and slapstick. 3 is my favorite of the movies. 2 is pretty good too with the plot of raiding a kid and the road trip.
