I noticed something while watching shitirama. During the first run of the show a lot of the humor was visual like when there is a pet contest and they announced the second place and you see a guy smiling surprised and when they zoom out the guy was the pet, there is no dialogue beyond the announcement of the second place
However in the shit reboot it's just the characters talking and they talk and they talk and they talk and when they finally do something they have to tell you what they are doing in some way
And it's not just Futurama I think it's extremely common but I'm just noticing that animators have 0 input and I think that's what's ruining modern shows, it's a visual style, however that's probably because nothing is done in studio anymore and you can't expect little Cheng to carefully consider the scene and change the script

I prefer this instead ot the typical Loona coomer thread

Sounds like the old Hanna Barbera shows like Superfriends where the animation was limited so the needed a narrator to explain to you what you're seeing on the screen. It was easier to have somone talk than actually animate action

Kinda mandated now, shows are all built with the assumption that everyone will stream them while doing something else (usually watching another, small screen) so everyone announces what they're doing so you don't have to pay close attention.

That and modern writers script everything in the dialogue, no interest in writing out visual jokes.

Modern shows are written under the assumption that the audience will be fucking around on they cell phones while watching. Not kidding.

Honestly?
I'd love to see Life in Hell finally get the animated treatment.
Like, at this point Matt, you can let someone else partially own it. or hell you could fund the thing yourself and keep it all. just... get that 80s feel back. 80s norms, 80s attitudes. none of this goofy lesbian fish bullshit.

sad to see, but i admit, i spend all of my time drawing, and I only have so much attention to pay to shows that demand it. Sitcoms are the kinda thing I put on as noise. I have to actually stop and pay attention for stuff like Grimsburg.

also anon
'they' cell phones? really?

It's a joke. It's ebonics.
Although considering the state of the internet I don't blame you for thinking it's real; I will just lament that I need to clarify it.

Probably Arizona.

They did New York/Big city, Jersey/medium city, and Alaska/Boonies. They can't do Texas, that's just King of the Hill again.

Maybe Georgia.

>his two most popular shows refuse to die, made to perform a rotten imitation of their former selves far past their natural lifespan
Give him a zombie show. (Mostly joking but i would like to see how his humor plays in a bleak apocalyptic setting)
