I cannot fucking fathom why the fandom doesn't hate Octavia after the last episode. I watched it and the prior Stolas episode twice, just to try and understand what the fuck Octavia was complaining about. I paid CLOSE attention, and NONE of the points she made were valid, NOTHING she said was acceptable, not one single thing. And honestly she acted like a hugely ungrateful, entitled, and downright stupid little brat

As someone with Octavia as their favorite character, I don't fully disagree with you. I do kind of hope they home in on the entitled aspect of things with her. For as much as fans like to portray her as "down to earth" and one of the "good" rich people, I reckon that at the end of the day, she was still raised as a privileged, royal and will behave as such. So, much how Stolas has much to learn, Via herself has to learn of what an actual good family looks like, because what she perceives as a good family from her own upbringing is not it at all.

And that character growth potential is what makes her an excellent character and I'm eager to see her go through that arc in the next two seasons.

I'm curious if we're going to get a bit of a prejudiced Via arc. Think of it from her point of a view as a royal may help explain why she doesn't see things from Stolas' point of view. As a Goetia, she's been raised to think that imps are beneath them. Just furniture to be chucked around and used as needed. So, it's not only that her dad "left" her for a person that he loves. To her, he left her for a "thing" that he loves. Like, her dad is just willing to throw away his life for the equivalent of a classic Mustang.

If they play their cards right, they'll have a nice angle of exploring the concept that maturity the moment you realize your parents are their own beings. Via only sees Stolas as "dad". She doesn't yet realize he's a full grown ass man that has his own wants and desires outside of what her needs and wants are. Add that to her realizing "Oh, imps are people too." she can better understand why her dad feels the way he feels.

I'd be very surprised, and very impressed, if they made Octavia prejudiced against imps in general because of Blitzo. That trait is one reserved for characters the writers want you to dislike without a second thought. All the likeable people are neutral at worst, if not outright accepting of this lower specie, and even Satan is pretty fair to Moxxie and Millie after Blitzo makes the sacrifice play. Hellhound prejudice is also rather underrepresented, and again, none of the likeable characters really display it. Closest thing I can recall is Millie referring to Loona as just "hellhound" a few times, like the pilot or Harvest Moon Festival, but those seem more played off for humor than anything else. I'd give them more credit if it was ever seriously acknowledged by Loona or Blitzo.

It was really interesting to me the angle they went with Loona kicking Blitz in the dick in Seeing Stars. Off the rip it's kind of played up for laughs of "haha, funny cartoon kicked in the dick." But you just assume it was cartoonishly played up or maybe didn't really even happen because cartoon logic.

But then Ghostfuckers came around and not only did it actually happen, but it's also something that really cut Blitz deep to his core that Loona did that to him. That was a really eye opening scene and got my head more on a swivel of what other scenes were played off for laughs that they could actually dig back up for an emotional, dramatic beat.

Whether Loona being called "hellhound" by Millie will be on one of those I don't know, but they've set the precedent of it being possible at least.

Much of the comedy in these scenes comes from Loona’s nonchalant reactions, such as her "wow, I feel so loved here" line in Murder Family. The writers consistently portray Millie as dismissive of Loona’s opinions and standing—until Ghostf**kers, when Millie finally needed a favor from her. Must resist urge to talk about Loxxie.

I agree, logically, but as you said the writers are unlikely to commit to that, not just cause they don't want to handle having a really racist character the audience is meant to sympathize with (Striker is the closest we get and he's playing up a more classist angle, plus Leftists are okay with "Punching up") but also because it'd mean Stolas is trying win back the love of said hypothetical racist, which I feel the show is also not at all prepared to deal with. As for Millie and Loona, I feel it's very surface level, and Loona being so non-combative about such treatment actually goes against her usual abrasive character. Getting pissed at the comments would make more sense. And again, it doesn't help it's pretty much just Millie and some minor, uncommented on things, like the muzzle in Mastermind. The writers treat the whole issue like a landmine to be tiptoed around. Not sure how Loxxie plays into this

The "it's expected" angle is fine and I thought of it but 1. Loona strikes me as the type to get mad regardless, see her reaction to Blitzo's affection, and 2. No one else engages with it. As for the Seeing Stars kick, again I just don't buy Loona believing Blitzo in that episode considering how consistent a pushover he is when it comes to her. Loona feels schizo in SS because she acts more like an anxious-attachment person instead of her usual avoidant style. And I disagree about Unhappy Campers. While their insecurities may look similar, they are rooted in fundamentally different causes. Moxxie’s insecurities stem from his abusive upbringing and manifest as a fear of rejection, while Millie’s insecurities arise from classism, given that she had the most stable childhood of the main cast. By the end of Unhappy Campers, Moxxie’s insecurities and self-esteem issues are dismissed by both Millie and the fandom. Once again, he puts Millie’s well-being above his own.

Adam Neylan was the main writer here, and his track record isn’t great. Seeing Stars, Exes and Oohs, and Unhappy Campers are often cited as the weakest episodes of season 2. He also co-wrote The Full Moon, which, to me, suggests he’s the go-to for unhealthy relationship dynamics. If anything, he’s been consistent in highlighting M&M’s flaws. Side note: he also wrote Mission: Zero, which is not bad at all desu.

When you break it all down, Millie's actions really don't leave much room for good outcomes. I'll concede on that front. But as for Loona and Mox, well their problems seem pretty distinct to me. She lacked people to be close to and dealt with the impersonal, alienating orphanage system, while he had people close to him, but mom was taken away, Chaz abandoned him, and Crimson was overbearingly personal in his control and abuse. Loona seems like she's aimless, while Moxxie struggles to get out of the box his past constructed around him. They'd both have a sense of "Am I good enough to be loved?" sure, but I feel one suffers from a lack of much positive reinforcement and the other from the presence of lots of negative. Not trying to be a killjoy, just want to understand it better. Extended honeymoon phase feels spot-on for M&M though.

The Old Testament talks a lot about this, so the Messiah's arrival was expected by the Jews. 1st Century Judea had lots of preconceived notions about what that role was supposed to be though.
