especially since they don't want to spray you unless they're both terrified and feel cornered (they would rather simply leave).
even ones that still have their scent glands intact ( can be kept as pets without spraying up the place (and won't stink any worse than most small animals unless they spray). probably among the more reasonable "exotic" pets, honestly, given their dispositions when properly socialized. and they're cute as hell.
most of their reputation for smell is from either dogs harassing them and subsequently suffering the consequences of their own actions, or roadkill (the impact can cause the scent glands to basically explode - it's very grisly).
